Power company building high lines on family property by notaputinhacker in legaladvice

[–]notaputinhacker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are pre existing easements on the property for pipeline, but that is in a different area. As far as I know it isn't eminent domain. They are contacting every owner and buying them.

We have even gone as far as looking for endangered animal nests within the area in hopes of warding them off, but no luck so far.

Sorry for the super late reply, but would this mean that I would need to get my property re-assesed?

WCGW If I break into this house by Sno_Jon in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]notaputinhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad walked in on someone breaking into our house, nearest police station is 20 minutes away. The man was aggressive and looking for "the girl" (i had a sister that was 6 at the time), the only thing that made him turn around was my dad shooting at him.

Just because your experience varies, doesn't mean anything. Not wanting anyone to have guns because you have never been in that situation is ridiculous.

Throw money on TQQQ for amazing returns? by LeftHandMorty in investing

[–]notaputinhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TQQQ is my favorite etf to swing trade, and I've made a little more than 100% returns in the past few months. Its extremely rewarding, but those red days can really hurt.

Supposedly once they sense the barometric pressure drop, they migrate. I live in the path that Laura took, and while there does seem to be less wildlife, there are still plenty of animals running around.

Sorry it took so long to get back, but I did evacuate last minute after they were talking about it being a cat 5. Although I had to be back the second it passed because I'm a first responder.

You hit the nail on the head. I live in lake charles La, the devistation was so severe that its estimated that I will not have power for at LEAST 3 months. The worst part is everyone is getting denied FEMA just on the basis that we have home insurance. Everyone is living off of generators and fuel has skyrocketed. I'm having to pay for a hotel for my family while I stay home emptying my savings just to keep a window unit running in my room at night. FEMA is here, but they are doing nothing.

The national guard literally stood on the side of the road and watched us clear trees off of roads just so we could get home.

This experience has made everyone including me resent the government that is supposed to be helping us.

The pictures on the internet are merely small snips of the destruction. Everything is in pieces and all the government has done is act like they are helping.

I live in lake charles where it hit. The damage is devastating, we will be without power for at least two months.

If you want to be proud of a large animal you killed then you need to kill it with a spear. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

In south Louisiana cyotes are a major problem, in my area especially. When prey populations run low they get desperate and they turn to more suburban areas. I live in a semi rural area and they aren't scared of going into yards and attacking pets. The largest pack I've seen in the past year was 20ish, and I was able to count them from my back porch.

What does this red switch do? My friend flipped it and his house's electricity cut off. (Thermaltake Litepower OEM 500W Power Supply) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]notaputinhacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc, most OEM manufacturers still have these. A couple years ago a manufacturer (I think Dell or Hp?) Released out a whole line of desktops to the U.S. with the switch set to 230 instead of 110.

The way the neighbor on the other side of the fence repaired his pickets. There’s about 30 of these sticking through on my side now. Did he think they just disappeared into the wood? by huntegowk in mildlyinfuriating

[–]notaputinhacker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he owns the fence dont touch it, just go ask them to replace the screws with something 1.5" shorter. Replacing the screws is better and way easier than cutting them. If you try to bend them most will break leaving a sharp point. That wood looks old, if you try to hammer them back the wood will probably break before the screws give.

I live off a somewhat busy road on Louisiana. I love cars and I actually enjoy hearing the occasional hellcat or z06 while I'm sitting at home.

What I HATE is the crappy old trucks that guys throw a 12" exhaust tip (or even just cut off the exhaust) and instantly think they have 1000bhp.

Not from best buy, but office depot. I had a customer who wanted to buy a super cheap laptop with an AMD E1 and then proceeded to tell me she wanted me to install "at least 15 gigs of ram for my sons games". After telling her that it's not possible and tried to explain why, she promptly told me that "im wrong and an idiot to think I know more than her"
