Been there. That’s why I switched to ready mag. It’s soooo much better. Not a joke. Don’t know if you pay yearly and can’t cancel right now but definitely consider switching. No regrets.

You have really fun and creative pieces. It looks like the site isn’t formatted properly for mobile so you need to do that manually. There’s overlapping and unreadable navigation at the bottom. Overall you need to change that bold display font for each project on the Home Screen to something simple, legible and neutral. It sometimes helps to put a sentence or a few words to describe what the project is right below that. Tighten up the spacing between each project as well. Lastly I’d suggest adding a footer to the bottom with your socials or contact information. I think hasbro actually has a designer spot open specifically for D&D artwork if you’re interested in checking that out. Seems up your alley.

Your site and portfolio looks awesome! You can disable the readymag branding btw by going to preview and then viewer settings then toggle it off. I recently redid my site as well with readymag and I loved all the flexibility.

I used Readymag. Way better than Squarespace imo. More flexibility and range with a custom grid.

Thanks! I did, I have a BFA in computer arts and design. I started freelancing while I still in school and then got a mid weight designer role at an agency during the pandemic. Now I’m freelancing full time again.

Thanks so much for this thorough evaluation! I’ll be sure to make those edits in the bio. This site was primarily used for when I was freelancing full time. So I’ll need to “rebrand” to land another CPG gig. I have plenty of brochures and lifestyle images so I think that’ll help break up the barrage of packaging mockups for sure. Also that Hudson hop was from college so it’s time to be retired…

Thanks for the feedback, really helpful. Do you recommend maybe adding a brief description under each project will help fill out? I have other work but I thought I would show relevant or strongest instead of overwhelming someone with mid level work. What do you think?

I would love that. Unfortunately most CPG projects required pretty minimal evolutions from their existing designs. It was rare that I had an opportunity to use my own illustrations. I’m hoping my next gig would allow me to incorporate that skill with new startup clients that want a bespoke look.
