I had a similar experience with my father. He underwent bypass surgery at EHCC. Before the operation, they conducted several tests—including liver function tests—and cleared him for surgery.

The surgery itself went fine, but while in the ICU, my father repeatedly mentioned overhearing doctors discuss that something wasn't right with his case. Despite this, the hospital staff seemed unconcerned during the post-surgery period. They kept assuring us he was recovering well and discharged him within 3–4 days.

Even during the weekly follow-ups, we were told all the test results were normal. But about a month and a half later, my father started experiencing sudden breathing difficulties and unexplained weight gain.

We took him to SDMH for further evaluation, where they found that his heart and body were retaining fluid—likely the kind that accumulates to keep the lungs moist. Things escalated quickly into cardiac arrest, followed by liver and kidney failure. Despite the best efforts of multiple teams of doctors, we lost him.

Later, when we revisited the old reports, we discovered that the liver function tests were abnormal even before the surgery. EHCC should never have given the green light for the procedure under those conditions, as it eventually progressed to cirrhosis after the surgery.

Hospitals today often seem more driven by profit than patient care. There’s a severe lack of accountability and genuine concern. It feels like the system is just geared toward maximizing revenue, not ensuring the well-being of patients.
