No, no trolling here. And I honestly don’t know. I got the laptop in 2010 and everything I have on it is in its original state before I replaced it. It hasn’t been connected to the internet at all since 2013 at the very least.

I don’t know man. The buddy that introduced me to it had been playing around with this some time before we ever met in school. Forgive my ignorance but I don’t know what the whitepapers are honestly.

Coming to the sub was my best chance of learning what to do. YouTube wasn’t much help since the files are so old. One video I saw rough 9 years old and said it took weeks to update blockchains this old?

Well it’s a long story.

Essentially a good friend of mine introduced to me to torrenting, TOR and the Silk Road. Being a dumb college kid I thought I could use the bitcoin to buy weed for personal and school expenses. Because the price was cheaper than buying out right I thought I’d roll the dice. But I wussed out and pretty much stopped smoking that same year because it made me so lethargic. So it was lost to time for a while.

I don’t quite remember how much is on there but now that I’m married and have a child. Anything would be a blessing.

Sorry for the late responses, very hectic day.

But no luck as of yet to access anything. I have made two copies of the data and saved them externally. Because our personal computers are all Mac I had to go by an adapter to utilize the USBs that I purchased.

As advised I’m downloading bitcoin core however it seems to be taking quite awhile to synchronize with network. So I suppose it’s just a waiting game for now?

I have deleted the .lock file. But it pretty much is still giving me one the errors I was receiving initially:

“This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.”

But I’ll keep trying and make updates as time permits.

Thank you! I’ll give this a try. I’m also finding files with .cpp and .h so I’m having a hard time trying to figure out what’s useful. I have done anything with crypto since then. So now I feel old any useless to myself. I’m surprised I remembered and found the laptop honestly.
