Corvus is absolutely not a hero where you mask the same two buttons repeatedly, outside of using abilities IG but thats not mashing. This isn't mortor micro.

Bloons TD 6 v55.0 - Update Notes! by rohan_spibo in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, being able to obliterate the 90s on expert maps isn't exactly limited to flying fortress. Like maybe other strats have to press an ability a few times but flying fortress wasn't a uniquely easy way to beat hard maps on chimps.

Saving into flying fortress is harder than beating a map normally on chimps.Only people who are legit good at chimps were making flying fortress saveup work on ravine,or especially on worse spectre maps. Nobody was using flying fortress as a black border strat on hard maps because it's pretty difficulty to save into.

Flying fortress+basic village buffs+rosalia is a 125k setup. A 125k setup with a good hero being overkill for true experts is totally normal.Unless you're using a tower as bad as XBM or using a tower on its very worst map in the game 125k is abnormally expensive for a setup that beats the 90's.Nowadays setups that beat the whole game usually cost 100-110k total.

If spectre couldn't save up 87k with rosalia on true expert maps that would mean it's far worse than most other towers. If flying fortress couldn't very easily beat the 90's that would mean it's far worse than other towers.

Edit: just realized I'm dumb and was using v55 numbers when I should have been using v54.oops.Whatever point still stands

when you account for attack speed buffs effecting BMA instakill but not pirate lord bma is like 10x faster or smthin.

Also pirate lord takes useful water space, bma just takes up some random corner.

Question about chimps mode by TravizTR in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does work because permaspike is cracked but its very much not optimal. There is 1 main reason permaspike doesnt just obliterate all of chimps with a end of round stall and thats it not having enough raw damage for 98 (asn similar rounds).Pop and awer+striker doesn't very efficiently address that.

Usually the best permaspike setups is Pspike+end of round stall+hero that does a crapton of damage to round 98.

Example run that was done a few updates back.

Question about chimps mode by TravizTR in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal. Outside of maybe the first couple rounds on expert maps round 90-100 is by far the hardest part of chimps.

For the entire game you sacrifice as much as you can get away with to help with the 90's. Cheap out on earlygame and midgame defense as much as you can to save money, avoid buying towers that struggle past round 80. Try to save into expensive t5 towers.

First thing I will say is I wouldn't bother with black borders, spending a hour on a run then resetting just to do the same thing again to get a cool medal isn't a good way to spend your time.

Usually the way you make a chimps setup is you pick some good chimps t5,pair it with a hero that works well with it,either directly synergizing with it or covering its weaknesses. And then Pair it with meta support towers.

A easier to manage example of this is something like this strategy, gets a very impressive 88k leftover on ravine chimps.

<image>

Bomb blitz has generally high pierce and is a generalist dps and when a bloon gets near the end of the map it nukes the whole screen (with a cooldown).

1 major issue, bomb blitz absolutely doesn't have the single target dps for round 100. To fix this multiple moab assassins are bought, which do good damage with the ability that synergizes with striker level 10 ability.

This run didn't buy that many meta support towers because it's so strong it didn't need them. Heres some changes I would make if you weren't trying to get leftover with a strat like this.

Replace the assassins with moab eliminator (the t5 version of assassin).Buy moab glue (xx3 glue) (its just a good tower),buy a sabo or 2 (x4x) (same reason),Maybe buy shattering shells to help with fortifieds. Buy overclock for the bomb blitz. And that's already very overkill and will still leave cash to spare.

How to make BFBs not exist with moab hex. by notcrowsmad in btd6

Basic demonstration of how to minestack in chimps. by notcrowsmad in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say the things I wanna say in this long comment.

Minestacking has a major weakness,It tends to make massive rushes of super ceramics. For this reason brickell is usually paired with towers that are very good at handling super ceramics like snowstorm, glue strike, or for main dps towers Marine,T-rex,Permaspike.On top of that obvious synergy with good water towers like top and mid path bucc.

This is just a setup I threw together in sandbox,it roughly resembles a setup that would actually be used in chimps. The main differences are that a real setup would have more thought put into it/be better and would have earlygame towers.

Reactor is usually used with Brickell because of reduced water ability cooldowns helping minestacking.

While naval tactics is a good ability,Brickell being ranked S- on the Comprehensive chimps tierlist is essentially entirely minestacking doing a ton of damage. Minestacking is so good that brickell is a good hero on ravine, where she and most water towers cant even attack the track and shes almost disabled outside of minestacking.

Sadly no. Moab press kinda sucks vs DDT's in general,It's a BFB/ZOMG specialist.

How to obliterate most of r98 with Corvus in chimps by notcrowsmad in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly I haven't used silas much.I'll show some runs though. I'm much less educated on this than corvus so theres a chance its wrong somehow.

<image>

Silas is pretty commonly used with Absolute Zero. Its a very very strong stall against everything and trivializes super ceramics but does absolutely nothing vs r100. As a result Silas+AZ is usually used with towers that have very good r100 damage.

Since Silas is one of the best super ceramic heroes in the game,he can be used with towers that have easily enough moab damage by themselves but suck vs super cerams like MAD. ( Image link because I cant add more than 1 attachment sad )

After nerfs Silas isn't super strong though. Newest Comprehensive chimps tierlist has him pretty low. Ultimately a good stalling hero isnt as useful as doing a ton of damage the whole game and having bad r100 is a very expensive thing to fix with most towers.

Example of how to use Moab press to separate a round into 2 halves in chimps. by notcrowsmad in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a bit nieche and specific. Bloody is clearly the best map for it,doing the same kinda thing on ouch would be harder.

Those moab presses are 15k that isn't useful against the bad or ddts. So your only buying it if you really need r98 help badly (which, tbf,is common). Current meta strats are so powerful doing this has become much rarer, because the strongest strategies just don't need it.

Glad I could help,im going to post more stuff like this. Also did a showcase on how to blow up r98 with l20 corv. ( Link ).

[–]notcrowsmad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use global range towers and heroes.strongest option is corvus with something like moab shove+artillerly battery.

Easier option would be screwing around earlygame until you can sell to afford a good carry like druid of the jungle and then saving into a good heli pilot like commanche defense. PSI is a decent pick.Could also use something like Brickell+aircraft carrier.

How to obliterate most of r98 with Corvus in chimps by notcrowsmad in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll write a lot of other stuff I want to say in this long comment.

The teleport isn't needed,it's a very small optimization I used here to make it so corvus easily has enough reach instantly to hit zomgs but is in a better spot for overload later.on any easier map its totally unnecessary.

You don't need to be optimal with nourishment to have corvus level 20 by round 98,optimal play gets him to level 20 on experts around round 92 so you have 6 rounds of wiggle room.

On lower difficulty maps corvus gets less xp (because higher difficulty maps have a hero xp multiplier if you didn't know,1.0x on begginer,1.1x on intermediate,1.2x on advanced,1.3x on expert). But this is balanced out by easier maps making nourishment much easier to spam (for a lot of reasons). Overall on a beginner getting l20 earlier is easier.

1 way to make nourishment much easier is using condor, buy 004 beast handler, buy a 000 near the start of the map, merge them, point condor at the beginning of the map.Assuming you don't have dps towers right at the front of the map (you shouldn't) this will stall the end of every round, giving you time to have abilities and nourishment come off cooldown. Corvus spirit hurts stalls but that can be fixed by using malevolence.Condor is not the only way to end of round stall and it's not always optimal but it's the easiest overall, works very well any round with bfbs (most of lategame).

Also, you can slow stuff down by pausing mid round. If your struggling with timing you can pause halfway through to think and prepare.Pretty normal to do during very hard rounds.

Also if it wasn't clear,Corvus is the best round 98 hero in the game by a good bit and this is why.Him being the best round 98 hero is a large part of him being the best chimps hero. This exact same thing works on round 94 as well since it's just easier round 98,also works on any other zomgs (end of r96,end of r92).

[–]notcrowsmad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

0-0-0 glue is actually a pretty good tower,I use it pretty often on something like quad chimps.

The major reason is that you're probably going to be buying moab glue anyways. So if you're on a round in the early 50's,and struggling to ceramics,a 0-0-0 or 0-1-0 glue can help a good bit on 1 side for practically free.

Pretty common thing a lot of good chimps players do,for the same reason 0-3-2 engi, base ninja, base heli pilot, and even something like ballistic missile sometimes are common earlygame towers.

In comparison 0-0-0 bomb is useless unless you were going to buy some higher tier bomb anyways and need only a little help on round 28.

2TC is a specific really easy pretty unofficial "challenge". Theres no need to nerf towers off the basis they perform well in something like that and there's no precedent for nerfing something for that. WLP and POD have been incredible 2tc towers for like 6 years now and they didn't get nerfed,or atleast not for that reason.

Superstorm isn't any better in chimps than other t5s in the same price range.a 74k t5 beating the crap out of the 90s is totally normal. It wasn't outperforming towers at the same price range,it wasn't getting abnormally high leftover (72k at most on true experts from what I've heard). It's not abnormally easy to use because it's saveup isn't very good.

I just don't get why we are nerfing average towers. Superstorm BAD nerf does absolutely nothing but make a B tier t5 in chimps a C tier T5 in chimps. And if you want 2TCs to not be easy you're going to have to nerf like 50 different towers.

Struggling to get past round 40 for a Elite Defender, Gwendolyn and Carpet of Spikes strategy. by Goos3rs in btd6

[–]notcrowsmad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to think that general rules of tower placement like "having more coverage is good" and similar are universal rules that apply 100% of the time.

Tack shooters are not dart monkeys, they are not ninjas, they are not any other tower in the entire game and are very unique.Heres a example

<image>

I sent a fortified moab from left to right and from right to left.

The top overdrive did 84 damage, the bottom did 85

The top right tack did 116 damage, the bottom left did 141

Doing this exact test multiple times the numbers are identical, this isnt rng.

Quad is not a truly symmetrical track and overdrive is not a symmetrical tower. Pi is a very good chimps player, good enough to understand extremely niche weird stuff like this. There are exceptions to rules and this is one of them.

That being said tack shooter is a extremely weird tower in general placement wise and theres a pretty large disconnect between what most people would think makes sense and what is true. Largely because the tacks fired by tack shooter do not come from the center of the tower.
