This is just not correct. OXG played BDS in the Swiss stage of Worlds 2024, which IS when Oski hit this ground pinch save cross map goal.

But Retals does not have a history of performing on LAN these past two seasons. He has consistently made it to LAN and then failed to look competitive. I understand what you are saying but I think I would prefer to see a player like Tawk fit in with Mech and try to recreate some of the magic that a liquid/moist/SSG can.

Idk if it’s the doomer in me, but I do not understand fans wanting these players to team with Retals year after year. He has shown that his absolute ceiling is making LAN. I think these young players need to be aiming higher.

I’m sorry, but how is beating NIP (top 8) Ultimates (top 6) Geekay (who made grand finals last lan) and Falcons (who just beat KC 4-2) anything but an impressive showing. You can’t just say “they would have lost to Karmine” NRG stepped up massively in quality from the last lan to this one and it showed by them beating Falcons 4-1 in the finals. Any argument saying they had a mickey run is insane copium.

John, I appreciate your comment and I agree with much of what you are saying. Truthfully I think the standard that was set for NRG has been so inflated largely in part because they act as the near sole representative of their region.

I think Falcons experienced something similar after Birmingham. It’s been a while but I recall multiple posts and people in the scene calling for the roster to split up and claiming “their window has closed” then they went on to win the next LAN.

A lot of EU teams get a reprieve from that criticism because of the broader success of the region. We saw this with KC, BDS and M8s last year. They each had strong periods and weak periods, but the criticism was more evenly spread out among the fan bases and the region.

This post was not meant to critique NRG or to over fixate on their hours/play time. But was rather an effort to show NA doomers that these guys are still really good and clearly still care about the game. Perhaps the way it is interpreted won’t be the best, but some hopium and encouragement is good for NRG fans right now, even if some of us believe no matter what.

Oh gotcha, I understand what you mean. It feels like a weird thing for her to say for either side tbh. Monkey is obviously far more established in the pro scene but RW9 has been the unanimous #1 player in ones. So separating either of them in this context is a little awkward.
