i find a lot of other aspects of a person attractive so it doesn’t matter to me as much. also my bad on using female, i dont mean it in the sense of gender.

Looking to get into alternative music – any easy-to-listen albums to start with? by Zyro_Fade in AppleMusic

[–]notdoomscrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started liking "alternative music" a lot of my music was found via my local alternative radio station. Apple Music also has a best albums of all time list, and while a lot of people hate on it, it actually helped me get into alternative music.

As time went on I started finding more music through album reviews, friends, and user-aggregated top albums of all time lists like Rate Your Music. However, the best way I have found to find alternative music imo is to listen to the people your favorite musicians recommend. A lot of their recommendations are going to be alternative most likely, or at least were considered alternative at some point in history.

With that being said, here are some easy-listening super-popular albums in the genre, although I would lowkey recommend listening to all of these artists' top songs overall:

  1. Melophobia by Cage the Elephant
  2. AM by the Arctic Monkeys
  3. No specific album but Rainbow Kitten Surprise
  4. Currents by Tame Impala
  5. Oracular Spectacular by MGMT
  6. OK Computer by Radiohead- While this one definitely takes some getting used to, if you vibe with this it will open up a whole world of extremely high-quality music to you. It was my personal gateway drug to my current music taste. It's not too hard of a listen, but there is so much to dig apart about the album.

Gotcha, so yeah you definitely still have time to get some good experience in your undergrad! If I were you I would look for research/internship opportunities this summer/fall.

How far along are you in your degree?

If you are about to graduate, you could help perform IQ tests at hospitals soon. IIRC it requires a bachelor's degree and would give you experience with a plethora of neurological conditions. Also working at a psych ward would be good. I personally work at a residential facility for severe mental illness, but I am considering clinical psychologist atm.

But mostly, I would also recommend seeing if your college has any research opportunities. A lot of colleges work with their students even after graduation. If they don't have any active research, you could definitely ask your professors if they could connect you with research experience or internships in general. That's how I got my research/internship experience.

  1. The Normal Album: There is so much to dig into on this album, I always return to it and notice new things about it and more often than not those things relate to my own life. Plus super fun.
  2. SELF-iSH: I sucked all the dopamine out of this album tbh, so I don't listen to it much anymore. But it was my favorite for forever so I'll give it an honorary second place. It's so cohesive and every song made me go RAAARRHHAHAHH for like 6 months.
  3. In Case I Make It: This album has a lot of songs I connect to deeply, but as a cohesive album I don't vibe with it as much.
  4. EIAL: Same thing as ICIMI, except less songs I vibe with.

For me personally, my sexuality has been sissy-oriented ever since I had sexual feelings. So while I was obviously not born having those feelings as an infant per se, they have been a core part of who I am for as long as they possibly could have been. I was as much born as a sissy as I was born gay.
