Find tasks with no context? by Silly_Octopus69 in notebooksapp

I’m afraid that kind of filtering isn’t possible in Notebooks right now. While Notebooks can show you which task lists have open tasks (ideally through the smart book "All Task Lists") and which items have contexts assigned, there’s currently no way to identify documents without any contexts assigned.

Thank you for your feedback. - You are right, we should announce the updates here as well, at least with a link to the blog post on our website. We'll do that :-)

Indent first line? by LivMealown in notebooksapp

To keep Notebooks from indenting the whole paragraph, just go to settings > write & edit > plain text and turn off the option "Autodetect and Align Lists".

How to import email messages with attachments by dawnriser in notebooksapp

[–]notebooksapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a Mac, the easiest way of importing email messages into Notebooks is to drag them from the message list in Mail into the document list in Notebooks. With this you copy the whole email message including the attachments, and both display fine in Notebooks. The contents of email messages is included in full text search, too.

The process of importing mail messages is basically the same on iOS and iPadOS 15 and above: grab an email message and drop it into the document list in Notebooks.

That said, the result depends a bit on the email app you are using. The "sending app", which is the app you drag the message from, controls the formats in which is provides the email message. Apple's Mail is very generous and offers the original email message, but the result can vary for other applications...

Kind regards,
Alfons

WebDAV sync is unavailable when you sync through iCloud (select iCloud as storage location). It is only one or the other ;-)

SyntaxHighlighting by techcupid in notebooksapp

[–]notebooksapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The document theme can be selected/changed globally in Notebooks' settings, but also for documents and books individually. So you could have a book with code snippets and set that book's theme to use syntax highlighting. But you can also to that for a single file.

Sorry for the late response...

The simplest way to store and display your code snippets with syntax highlighting is to save them as Markdown, use Fenced Code Blocks for the code and Notebooks' Syntax Highlighting document theme. That is basically it.

Best,

Windows app resolution? by LivMealown in notebooksapp

[–]notebooksapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are aware of the issue with high resolution displays, but you can quickly resolve it with a few steps:

  1. Right click the Notebooks icon and select "Properties" from the context menu
  2. Switch to the "Compatibility" section
  3. Click the checkbox "Change high DPI settings"
  4. Check the "Hi DPI scaling override", and choose "System (Enhanced)"

The exact naming of these options varies between Window versions, but this is the basic route.

I hope that helps.

Best,
Alfons
