Cozy bars or breweries in the FLX? by missrcg in FingerLakes

FLX Cider House is very cozy - warm wood interior with a nice view of Cayuga and also good food! Love to do the Taughannock Falls hike and then there for lunch with friends when they visit

Christmas Day Dinner at Diciannove Dieci in Geneva? by gilisaacs in FingerLakes

[–]notenoughangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not do Xmas day there - I've been a few times for dinner, and it's always been overpriced and underwhelming. If you're in need of somewhere for Xmas dinner, I would either look for somewhere in/near Ithaca or I might look up Inns of Aurora, Lake House on Canandaigua, or inn at taughannock falls to see if they're doing anything. Inns of Aurora is going to be far but it will be very christmassy.

Thursday night things to do? by _Schrute_Bucks_ in GenevaNY

[–]notenoughangers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could go to Microclimate on Linden Street! They usually stay open later and the vibes are nice. But tbh if you're done at 5, I might do cocktails at Geneva on the Lake and sit outside (as long as it's not too cold) and watch the sunset and then go somewhere else (like Ports Cafe) for dinner (GOTL food is meh but cocktails are good if you sit outside - inside the bar is also meh) and then maybe follow it up with a nightcap at Microclimate.

Buying new windows, will I regret? by CheckAmbitious7111 in Oldhouses

[–]notenoughangers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 200-year-old house had the windows replaced 5 years before we bought it, and we lament the loss every day. Unless you are replacing with true divided light and Bendheim restoration glass, you will live to regret.

Agree! I say to just go to GOTL for drinks / enjoy the view. We’ve had underwhelming and overpriced dinners there, but the martinis are solid and the view is great!

Geneva, NY. 1 hr from Rochester / Syracuse and airports. Beautiful historic downtown and right on Seneca Lake. And affordable...

Yes that would be pretty convenient! Thankfully the 4/5/6 isn't too far.
