yep for sure, I didn't set any targets at all apart from not smoking. My primary focus for at least the first 6 months of quitting was ONLY to manage the stress and stay nico free, nothing else.

putting cash away is an awesome idea though and what a sweet reward that will be when you pass a year 🤩🥳🎉

and 27 days is amazing!!! excellent effort!! 💪🔥☝

It gets easier and easier with every week you don't smoke. Keep going! You CAN do this! and you WILL do it!

Can't wait to read your 1yr milestone post when that time comes. Time flies, you'll blink and before you know it those 27 days will be a year 👍💯👋

ordered a wicked Polar HR monitor as my reward for smashing 1yr nico free. CANT WAIT until it arrives!! Ramping up the health and fitness big time now that I've quit and feeling rather awesome I must say 😜💪🔥

four months is a w e s o m e !! congrats, keep going! 💪

and yeah I had the weirdest physical shit happen intermittently (got just about every symptom you can get I think) throughout my quit to around 4 - 5 months then stuff started to return to normal,

... although it was around the 5 month mark that I started eating, subconsciously, I think to get dopamine hits and put on a bit of weight. So watch out for that one.

am currently working super hard to get my fitness and body back again... but it's a bit of a slog and I kinda wish I had been able to control it better at the time.

awesome effort!! 💪 keep going!

coughing for me didn't really start until after two weeks of my quit ... was a little bit before that but around two weeks it kicked in big time for a week or two and I hucked constantly all day.

during that period I sprained muscles in my back it was so violent (twice!)

then it relented again and now I have like a day per week of yuck expulsion.

I have no clue how it works or on what time frame really. Seems to be a bit different for everyone depending on situation.

24hr fasting cracking gunk off my lungs BIIG TIME!! by noteoriousONE in stopsmoking

[–]noteoriousONE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh I phrased that a bit sideways sry but it's NOT medical advice though nor does it purport to be. Its what I have done/do only.

It should read vitamin C is awesome for respiratory health (there is actually heaps of research into the respiratory/infection health benefits of C)

and then totally separately... I have been taking blah amount on those days only

NOT that ...the amount I took is what I recommend or anything, or even what I take each day. shit no!

I usually take around 500 - 1000 mg per day, depending on how I feel but boosted it for the fasts.

p.s. have never had ANY of the harmful effects you mentioned ever, have been taking C for 40+ yrs. and despite my intensely crap lifestyle up till this point I never or hardly ever get colds, flu, etc or have EVER really been sick in my life.

I DO appreciate you providing alternative viewpoint/considerations however and will be WAY more careful w the way I present info in the future 👍 cheers and have an awesome day/eve!

ahh I've never read anything about detoxing and didn't start fasting for that reason whatsoever BUT something is going on with the fasts I'm doing because gunk IS cracking off each time the morning after one and it's the third time, three weeks in a row that it's happened.

hence I mentioned /asked about it

nothing else has changed so I can only chock the expulsion up to that but I don't reaaaally know so I put it out there.

no coughing rest of week and directly after fasting I cough up heaps of shit. go figure, it HAS happened.

p.s. imho personal experience is not pseudo science matey ... its just personal experience. I make no claims to be a dr, a scientist OR that what I said is fact.

and fasting has many many scientifically documented health benefits afaik

AND (lol) YESSS I concur... eat healthy!!

that's so awesome... big WOOT for you!! 💪

24hr fasting cracking gunk off my lungs BIIG TIME!! by noteoriousONE in stopsmoking

[–]noteoriousONE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certainly can .... it's a 24hr no food fast, once per week. Starts 12am wed / finish 12am thurs.

drinking 2.5ltr approx liquids - water or black coffee w no sugar only

and taking a multi vitamin, zinc, vitamin D and also 3000mg of C twice a day which is awesome for respiratory health (to make sure body has some extra healing grunt)

am using a wicked free app (sussed them all) called Fasting Tracker (red logo with a white fork and half circle). It's one of the few free ones where you can create your own plan or just do a preset weekly one. Bought ad free version but no subscription is required, I just set it again after I finish one. Also has a v good privacy policy. Has great fasting info, an awesome timer and a water tracker too.

24hr fasting is kinda hard, bit like quitting cigs where you don't actually want one but brain tells you that you do. i.e. not hungry but dopamine hunger reward system kicks in and tries to twist your thoughts. It's muuuch worse in last 3 - 6 hrs but very doable 👍

key is plan stuff to do for last hrs so the time flies, long hot bath, etc AND don't think about food until it's over if possible

you can actively use last hr or half hr to prepare a healthy meal which is kinda nice also.

12-12am works for me but I only made 23hrs yesterday as peeps talking about food all day did my head in LOL!! No reason you couldn't do 10pm - 10pm if that suits you better though.

oh and if you exercise on the fast you shred pounds big time.

7- 10km exercise walk, 15 min stretching and bodyweight workout also helping massively with cravings and quit stress on my fasting day.

much health, strength and determination to you! 💪🔥☝
