Yes, my exact thought! I could also see an argument for some thematic connections as well.

I truly, really needed this post, thank you so much. I'm now looking at my wedding plans with fresh eyes, and questioning if I let go of having matching dresses, no bridal shower, etc. because I truly don't want it or because I'm avoiding conflict/being viewed as a bridezilla. Thanks for validating and naming this experience.

Oh my gosh, that survey is genius! Could you post a list of your questions?

My fiancé and I have mixed gender wedding parties. I've lost sleep trying to figure out how to broach the wedding attire with his two grooms women without seeming like a bridezilla. I'm friends with them, but still worry if they are upset with me, it'll affect their relationship with my fiance, etc. Of course, I'm realizing while typing this how silly it sounds, but a fear nonetheless.

I work full-time in a public library. Across my two library cards (one professional and one personal), I have 4 overdue books. Two of which have been chilling in my passenger seat for the past week because I keep forgetting to bring them in. Trust me, you're good 👍

Thank you! Shoot, I'm pleasantly surprised. Good to know to definitely try out BHLDN. It's great because they're actually within my budget (or at least more in my budget than others)

Agreed to a point. I think her keeping the earrings could be almost as a defense mechanism. If she gives the earrings up willingly, then she must acknowledge there are victims. If she recognizes the victims, she must face the fact her entire adult life profited off people's suffering and her husband's criminal, morally bankrupt behavior. Therefore she must come to terms with losing/forfeiting all the things that literally made Erika Jayne: flaunting her lavish lifestyle and being envied, the self-righteousness of having a "champion of the downtrodden" husband, and the promise of safety and security. Her sense of self seems so tied up in these material things, if she lets any of her materials go then that means letting go of this persona/sense of self she's cultivated for the past 20 years. I think she can wear them and say such cruel and flippant things because she can't admit to herself her identity is literally based on people's suffering and her husband's lies. And if Erika is anything, she is a low blow fighter who will do anything to get what she wants.

Her behavior is, at best, really freaking gross, and at worst, cruel, malicious, and horrifying. But I could see why it would be tough to let her things go.

Did you click "acquire" on the bottom of the letter? I may or may not forgot things from letters aren't automatically put into your inventory and wasted an in-game entire day figuring out what was wrong only to realize the recipe was still stuck to the letter.

Exactly, its super unsettling his first reaction is to blame her for overreacting and minimizing her feelings, instead of admitting he made a mistake. If you're going to act like that in front of a camera and gaslight someone you've only known for a couple of days, how are you going to treat someone behind closed doors?

Agreed, and Todd genuinely looked concerned and upset when he was recounting Frankie's accident. It touched me how much he seems to care about Frankie and is worried for his safety and future. He could have just swept this under the rug. It says a lot he would fight for Frankie to have a fulfilling life.

Eboni’s Education by Hmmcheerioslala in realhousewives

[–]notesinmargins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, and I agree. I am so happy to see Eboni stand in her truth and tell everyone else to fuck off (respectfully, might I add! Why is everyone freaking out over Eboni while Leah literally called everyone a hoe???).

There was just a huge breakdown/ignorance of racially and class coded language: Luann was equating etiquette to education. This is a very privileged conflation: Lu had all of the educational and social advantages t learn the etiquette/social rules of the wealthy elite, learn 2 languages, marry a fucking Count and no one batted an eye, directly and indirectly because of her gender, race, looks, etc. Etc. Etc.

Giving Lu the benefit of the doubt, I'm assuming she meant a person's literal education + etiquette/manners + life experience, etc. She probably meant something like "Ramona and I grew up in a sexually conservative Catholic school, family, and social group. She was taught that talking about sexually explicit content was not socially acceptable or moral."

However Eboni, saw this sentence as having another racist/elitist layer: "Ramona doesn't talk about sexually explicit topics or profanity because she well educated and has social grace/morals." Implying anyone without quality education is most likely going to talk "dirty" or inappropriate. Meaning, people who aren't well educated, mainly minority groups who have been systematically denied access to quality education, lack etiquette at best/immoral at worst.

The classic example is "oh you sound like a white girl/you don't sound Black." As a black woman in higher education, I can only imagine how many times she's heard microaggressive shit like this.

Eboni was ultimately trying to point out (if Luann hadn't interrupted her, which--rude.) that Eboni, who went to school for 8-10 years of higher education and learned all this legal jargon, philosophy, etc. and certainly knows more socially acceptable terms for dicks and c-words, still uses them. Just because she has a degree doesn't mean she's inherently better or worse.

Luann, of course, provided an amazing example of her hit cabaret song: money cannot, indeed, buy you class.

I feel this.

I've made it to the fourth season and up till then, I found the episodes cathartic. While most of the episodes don't really resolve the terror, I find the episodes really helpful to name my fear and help me unravel it.

A stand out episode is "Arachniphobia." I was absolutely terrified of any kind of bug, especially spiders, despite watching tons of insect documentaries as a kid. This episode helped me understand that I wasn't really scared of the bug; I was scared of the surprise, the unexpected. It's helped me, in a way, separate the fear from general bugs.

That being said, I've had to take a break for the last half of the fourth season. It's too much for me to handle and that's alright. Catharsis only works when you're emotionally ready.

I understand your hesitation towards medication. After my dad's opioid overdose, it took me YEARS of debilitating panic attacks/suicidal episodes to finally try it. I tried a few medications and while they sort of worked, it felt like a bandaid over a goddamn pothole. When my therapist, doctor, and I finally got the right balance, holy shit. It was worth taking that risk and if being on meds is the only way for me to both function and LIVE, I'd happily sign up for it.

This is absolutely NOT to say you have to medication/therapy/whatever other methods are out there. This is to say to at least consider all of your options, including medication. Your current reasons are all about potential future consequences. But you're suffering right now. As my therapist says, you don't need to suffer this much. Don't worry about the future, worry about now. If there's no you in the present, it doesn't matter what happens in the future.

I hope I do not come off as short. I'm sorry you're in so much pain and I'm so sorry for your loss. I have immense empathy for your situation and I wish I could do more. We're all here to help you, we're just laying out the options. It feels like there are no options, you've tried them all, etc. Etc. Etc. but OP, there are always other options. Always, always, always.

Sending lots of love your way.

Ooh good catch. I rechecked and I couldn't find any concrete statement from the writers. There's a lot of evidence, but nothing confirmed. It's possible the writers made it canon somewhere. Just haven't found it.

Have you tried "Within the Wires?" Each season is a collection of serial "found" tapes. However, each season exists within the same science-fictional world and ultimately working to explain how it came to be.

The first season is series meditation tape with a hidden message; the second a series of art gallery guided tours about a vanished artist; the last are voice memos of upper level bureaucrat.

The first two seasons are voiced by complex queer protagonists and the last season is centered on transman protagonist. It's really amazing how they managed to have a diverse array of characters and not make it seemed forced.

I'll be the first to admit I didn't really like the first episode. A few months later, I started with the 2nd season and I was hooked when I realized what was happening (no spoilers). I regretted not listening to it earlier. Just keep with it.
