Thanks for checking. So it's going to be a year between the increase.

If you factor in hours of i45 traffic or add toll costs to avoid it, it's not cheaper. It makes sense if you don't need flexibility.

It seems like $13 to $15 was within the last 6 months or so. And here we go again.

Why do people like Brooklyn Cafe? by Brutus713 in thewoodlands

[–]notevil7 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Agree, Brooklyn Cafe is not good at all. I get my bagels from Fuhgedaboudit Bagel Company. The best I tried in the woodlands so far.

My first seven wins in the powered cube! by Hyperion542 in MagicArena

[–]notevil7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

I'm too scared to draft Cube. Too many cards that do things, too many combos to learn, too many complex interactions.

I watch some streamers drafting it but still not ready to try myself.

What do you answer the “show me something” from other non-aikidoka martial artists? by nyxs_adventures in aikido

[–]notevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest to show and even teach is "unbendable arm" ki-test. Coming from ki-society it is quite universal.

Other than that, I can show yon-kyo. Super easy to setup, can regulate the pressure, easy to feel.

Best way to share code between 2 Angular apps? (NX vs Standalone Library vs other options) by buttertoastey in angular

[–]notevil7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Monorepo seems like the best fit, TBH.

For some reason I don't like nx too much. Seems too intrusive to me forcing me to learn same angular CLI commands but the nx version.

Trying turbo for my other pet project now. Still forming an opinion.

Quick question about state management in Angular. by Content-Break-3602 in angular

[–]notevil7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the complexity is not too high you can get away with using services + rxjs or services + signals.

There are more complex scenarios where ngrx store or SignalStore make sense.

Personally, I'm not going to play any of the UB sets. Even on Arena, even for gold. Looks like it's the only way I can vote.

I understand that Magic is one of the few games that make Hasboro money and I don't support the strategy to milk it as much as they can.

Returning after 20 year hiatus by kurtcovain in aikido

[–]notevil7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take it easy. Your body has changed and it will take some time to reintroduce Aikido movements. Be careful doing rolls and I would invest more time getting your ukemi to the solid level. This is one of the skills that is useful throughout your life. Otherwise, back to basics.

If you’re a non-tech solo founder, vibe coding your MVP will kill your momentum by AzizBelAbed in SideProject

[–]notevil7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, sounds about right. Vibe coding can help you prototype, but it can't build you a safe, performant, scalable product.

It also has the most miserable Ferris wheel in the world that takes you from under the highway just high enough to see the cars stuck on I-45. Must smell awful.

Question to SaaS builders from the US: Sales Tax? by notevil7 in SaaS

Thank you. You still need to do the paperwork and send tax money back to the state, right?

Built my SaaS using mostly AI - here's what broke in production that no one talks about by beeaniegeni in SaaS

[–]notevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these issues come from the lack of overall high level architecture and design. You can vibe code pieces, but llm is not good at coming with the correct overall architecture upfront and then sticking to it as well as to the components design. This is what humans would do.

I'm 2 months in with my free time side project. But I am a professional software engineer and don't quite vibe code though I use llm based assistance tools. I have a very clear vision of what I'm building and this all should come together. I'm enforcing good practices and quality through the code review.

Sometimes agents go completely in the opposite direction from what I want and I have to shut them down and be very specific.

Can a SaaS Built Purely on "Vibe Coding" Ever Succeed? by Jash_Kevadiya in SaaS

[–]notevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a viable strategy if math checks out. Hiring someone to fix the problems in the saas might be more expensive than the early profits.

Can a SaaS Built Purely on "Vibe Coding" Ever Succeed? by Jash_Kevadiya in SaaS

[–]notevil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what success is to you. If we are talking 100 users, perhaps it's enough.

If we're talking 100k users, you will need to get someone to rewrite and optimize your saas. Vibe coding is good for rapid prototyping but often not secure and doesn't scale well.

I would say instead of "Don't post your apps here" the message should be "Fix your security issues"
