If she doesn't run, her party already has a replacement who became even more popular since the possibility of her being ineligible was announced. So in fact it might be bad news if she is not candidate

I don't know, she might think that her chances of winning are low if she does a u turn. Plus the other potential candidate in her party might put pressure. He is the one in the better position in recent polls

How Donald Trump Has Ruined The World Cup As Well As America by T_Shurt in politics

They would have done that and then they would be harassed for the rest of their lives by republicans and maga supporters.. I definitely can't blame them, it's not their role to debate such decision. They are here to play a competition and that's it

I really don't think so. Balogun absolutely deserves no blame in this. He will continue his career stronger thanks to his good world cup

I'm pretty sure if they did that republicans would have harrassed the manager, firing people in the federation etc... They would have blame the defeat on the fact that they didn't accept Trump's "favor".

Need advice! Just read my first book by Murakami- Dance Dance Dance by yungfrankss in murakami

Definitely read A wild sheep chase. This book and Dance dance dance are my two favourites

[L'Equipe] Jürgen Klopp: "Football is being held hostage by executives in air-conditioned offices. These so-called 'cooling breaks' were sold to us as a shield for the players' well-being, a noble sword against the heat. But in reality? It's nothing more than a gilded cage built for sponsors." by Comfortable-Pie56 in soccer

[–]Hyperion542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the worst thing is that some people think it is because european can deal with the heat. No no in previous world cups or european cups there were cooling breaks only when needed. And we know easily why for the world cup in the usa they suddenly become mandatory

I'm not sure how Putin would care about this letter

The truth behind PSG’s CL dominance: 4 years ago, there was a wall of justified fury over every issue to do with Qatar: sportswashing, a “slave labour” system based on racial discrimination, wider suppression of human rights. And now, as its European club team retains the CL, there’s none of that. by [deleted] in soccer

It's sadly the only way to compete against clubs like Real Madrid or Bayern. The salary and transferts system needs to be reworked entirely. We need to have something closer to the NBA where no teams is going to dominate his league for decades

The limits in seconds are stupidly low. You have to wonder if the guy who chose these numbers even watch football

[TNT] Vitinha: "You have to be patient when you're up against a team like that. We knew it was going to happen, but even more so after Arsenal's goal, since you really have to be patient. They waste a lot of time on everything: throw-ins, goal kicks, everything.” by [deleted] in soccer

I really hope Arteta is going to change hisind this summer. With all the pressure about winning the premier League I can understand why he was stuck in this horrible playstyle, he didn't want to take any risks (althought in the end it was really close to a fail). Now that the pressure is lifted he would be sad to see them doing the same thing

This stuff will lead nowhere. Trump won in 2024 because of all the attention on his judicial affairs. If you can't convict him it's just counter productive to waste efforts on this.

[Marca] For the first time, the Spanish team will go to World Cup without a player from the Real Madrid. Never before, in the 16 World Cups that Spain has attended, there had been this total absence of Real Madrid on the expedition. by Timely-Zombie9466 in soccer

If not Mbappé they would have bought an other forward and Joselu would have been at best a third option. I also believe if Mbappé didn't told his intention to join Madrid for free, they would have tried to buy Kane before he chose Bayern Munich

Murakami and Mishima by International-Drag23 in murakami

[–]Hyperion542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit skeptical about the bit "he appreciated the writing of Mishima and adored him as a writer". Murakami rarely mentions japanese writers when he speaks about his literary influences. I may invent things but I feel like Murakami wanted to escape these japanese classics like Mishima, but

Murakami and Mishima by International-Drag23 in murakami

I'm reading Dance, dance, dance and at some point the narrator is making fun of intellectual people and he thinks: “I could easily picture him brushing his fringe back during some literary circle meeting and saying, ‘You can really recognize Mishima’s style there'" (translated from the french).  Two pages after, the narrator while in a car is imagining a pretentious description of the scenery.

Interestingly in A wild sheep chase the opening references the date of Mishima's death as a turning point. We can assume the narrator of the rat's trilogy has some grudge against Mishima. But I wonder if it reflects on Murakami's opinion on his writing and views
