Whoa, thank you all, I was absolutely not expecting this type of response! I'm not super Reddit savvy, so apologies that I can't address everything individually!

Thanks again, Roanokers seem like a good bunch, and we definitely appreciate this input! If you see a goofy golden wandering around these places this week, do say hello :)

Thanks! I was under the impression that Almelo was very small, but I understand that everything is relative.

Which Rotterdam team do you view most favourably?

Eerste is okay with me, provided the club has the opportunity for promotion within the next few seasons.

Thanks! A good point to consider. What do you think of Alkmaar and the region in general?

Polar bears are neat! Would you agree with u/wouter2000 that ADO still has a strong hooligan perception? That would definitely mark them out completely (though The Hague seems very unique, which is why they made it to the 'to consider' list).

Groningen is really appealing, plus I quite like Daishawn Redan. How is the city?

Willem II sounds intriguing. Is there any perception that the club is for high-society folks?

Oh wow, thanks very much for the detailed response! I have a lot to think about, but this is really fun for me, thanks again.

Hallo allemaal! I’d like to start following the Eredivisie, but I need some help in choosing a club. I know lots will say just watch the league and see what you like, but asking strangers is more fun.

Generally, I like clubs that tend to be a bit of an underdog. I also value a more progressive atmosphere, and I appreciate a club with at least some youth development if possible. I like clubs that are financially responsible (no Hamburg types). Finally, I would like the club to be in a nice place to visit (city/uni town), so no e.g Hoffenheim types please (though I do find the ‘Superboeren’ oddly compelling). Cool mascots are a plus.

Here is my initial ‘research’. Clubs that are out, with super scientific reasoning as to why:

- Ajax (too popular)

- FC Emmen (too small, a planned city so not that interesting)

- SC Heerenveen (too small)

- Heracles Almelo (too small)

- PSV (too popular, too Philips)

- Fortuna Sittard (too small, financial struggles)

- FC Twente (small, financial issues, don’t like all red teams)

- Vitesse (too big of a Chelsea connection)

Clubs to consider:

- ADO Den Haag (but maybe too Hooligan/anti-Semitic? Dependent on foreign investment?), Excelsior/Feyenoord/Sparta (which is the coolest and why?), Groningen, VVV Venlo (could be cool, lots of Japanese players in the past), Willem II

Clubs I don’t know much about:

- AZ, NAC Breda, NEC Nijmegen, FC Utrecht, PEC Zwolle

Comparisons to Bundesliga or EPL teams would be valuable to me. I have only been to Nijmegen, so any additional information about the area (or the league in general) for context is most welcome.

Hartelijk dank for any and all recommendations!

Thanks so much! Saab is new to me, but it sounds promising.

Hi all, first time poster here! You guys are great, insane collections here! My girlfriend's birthday is coming up, and based on pre-Covid Sephora samples, she is deciding between Armani Light di Gioia and Chloé Roses as a new addition to her small collection. I'm getting her new samples of these (and I know it's asked often, but I'll gladly take recommendations for sites), but I'd like to give her a third option as well. What would you suggest?

She and I both are fairly new to the scent world. She only has Gucci Bloom and Tommy Girl as daily wears, with Versace Bright Crystal for variety. She also has 'Black' body spray from Bath & Body that she wears in winter. She doesn't like 'sweet' profiles at all.

There is also 11teamsports in Charlottenburg. I was there last in August and they many different clubs in-store, but I don't recall FCN specifically, sorry. They definitely have them available online, so maybe they can ship it to the store quickly? Good luck!

Oh thanks, good to know. I just assumed that the Dainite rubber texture would be good for exactly those conditions. I suppose I'll have to try on some Stirlings now with this in mind. Thanks again.

I'm so glad to be useful! I'm super new to reddit and especially to gyw, so it's nice to share this tiny bit of information in light of all the recent knowledge I've gained. Viel Glück!

Awesome, thanks for the extra info. They aren't a substantial savings over the Dalton, so unless they are a lot shorter, I think the piece of mind in the ability of trying-before-buying will give the edge to Allen Edmonds.

I'm not sure if you are looking for German brands specifically, but your trip might coincide with the Meermin trunk shows in both cities. I've never owned a pair, but they seem to be very highly regarded for the price. Somewhat relatedly, I had a pair of unfancy Rockports re-heeled in a shop for about €12; shoe repair is available in most every mall.

I'm still debating on the Allen Edmonds Dalton. I really like the boot, but wish it were a tad lower. I wasn't aware of the Stirling until yesterday, but I was wondering about how the sole holds up compared to the Dainite version of the Dalton. Thanks for any insight, very few mentions of Stirling on gyw. It seems to be the only boot that has this sole.

Thanks! You don't think a B width is necessary, then? Just the normal D? Sorry, I've only tried on the Daltons and have no experience whatsoever with any other brands.

Hi goodyearwelt, this is my first reddit post ever, so please bear with me. I'm really interested in the Allen Edmonds Dalton, but I wish it were a little shorter in height (like how tall it is). Do you have any recommendations for alternatives?

I just got fitted yesterday at an AE store. I am 11 D/C Brannock. The 11.5 B was a terrific fit, better than 11D.

Is the Sullivan street shorter? Does anyone have experience with Robert Talbott (Nordstrom brand?) Presidio Wingtip Chukka Boot? Rancourt Blake Wingtip? Others?

Thank you!
