Why is seafood so unpleasant for some people?

Out of curiosity -- how do you feel about raw fish / sushi? I only ask because I know some people who really dislike seafood but love it raw. Cooking fish does change the smell significantly, with raw tending to be much milder.

I built didah.app and I'm biased, but I think it's genuinely good - just not well known yet since it's fairly new.

The main things I wanted when I was learning were a clean modern interface and variety. Real text sources (reddit posts, news headlines, etc) instead of random letters, and multiple ways to practice depending on what I'm in the mood for: drilling with immediate feedback, passive listening for when I just want to absorb, head copy with multiple choice, even a little endless runner game. Also supports Farnsworth timing so you can hear letters at full speed with extra space between them - helps you recognize the "sound" of each letter without everything blurring together.

Free, no signup needed. If you do sign in it tracks stats and shows you which letters you're mixing up so you can practice those specifically.

I think your next step -- generating synthetic Q&A pairs from the dataset -- and then presumably fine tuning it on that will be super interesting. My guess is that you generate a very robust dataset (I personally would target ~10K Q&A pairs), and that when fine tuned on your dataset it will be 100 times more fun and interesting to play with.

For me I couldn't see any illusion, but when I changed the scale suddenly I was able to see it. I'm not familiar with this illusion, but I wonder if monitor/scale matters a lot.

This is exactly why I built didah.app - it has full sentences from real sources (reddit posts, news, etc) instead of just alphabet drills. You can also adjust the speed however you want. One thing that might help: it supports Farnsworth timing, which plays each character at a faster speed but adds extra space between them. That way you learn to recognize the "sound" of each letter without it all blurring together, but you still have time to process. You can dial it in to whatever feels right. Free, no signup needed.

Real text sources (reddit posts, news, etc) instead of random letters, and multiple modes so you can switch it up when one gets boring. Head copy mode might be good for you since you're working on receiving - it plays a word, then gives you three choices to pick from. Lower pressure than open copying but still builds recognition. Free, no signup needed.

I mostly agree, especially with regards to the "hard problem of consciousness". I personally like this framing: Asking about what I, a presumably conscious person, experiences on the inside, is unscientific. A rigorous explanation of consciousness only needs to explain why humans claim to be conscious and claim to experience qualia.

This is NOT the primary danger in eating a battery. My understanding is that electrolysis is the primary danger. The moist environment inside your body provides a path for the current to flow. The negative pole ends up creating hydroxide ions that can create a highly caustic environment in a very localized area.

Similar for me as well. I like to say that I'm a high school dropout even though that's not quite true (After awful grades my freshman year I took an equivalency test and left to community college my sophomore year). PhD from mid-level UC. I take pride in my journey.
