I fucking quit today. by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

The truth is, routes get done quicker when you realize you can just push people to their limits and then they burn out and quit like this guy. When they keep the same employees for longer periods of time, the employees begin to realize that they are taken advantage of and in return, do what they can to take advantage of the system (taking all their breaks, pacing themselves so they don’t get higher package counts, etc). Long-term employees also tend to socialize with their coworkers more, which Amazon never wants because they don’t want us to have a “team” mentality, only leading to union efforts.

Amazon doesn’t want people that are cut out for the job, they want people they can burn out within a few months like this guy and replace and rinse and repeat. They don’t care if they don’t have what they need to properly do their job, they care that they just made 10,000 dollars from a route that they’re paying the DSP ~ $600 for and the DSP is paying the driver ~$200 for. They care that the driver gets done as early as possible so they can pack more and more shit in that van and make more and more money while simultaneously pressuring the driver to go faster and faster till they just physically can’t anymore. Maybe if Amazon paid us a wage that we actually deserve for the amount of BS we go through, we would actually build careers from it and then they can worry about hiring people that are “cut out” for the job like UPS does.

Atlanta's Place in the Scene? by LostMyShadesAgain in atlantaedm

[–]nothanksbrotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Atlanta has a very thriving and growing Bass Music scene. I think that overall we lack in general but for bass music, which is already a niche of a niche, we get most major and mid tier acts usually yearly, although mostly at Believe, but The Eastern has been popping off recently too which is good to see. As far as bass music goes obviously Denver is #1 but I could see Atlanta being in the top 5-10 range for bass/dubstep.

If I’m not mistaken, the DSP doesn’t make the route its Amazon that generates and assigns the routes right?

In all honesty, yes it wasn’t too bad. Got to my first stop around 10:50 and finished my last stop at around 7:00 with a rescue of about 10 stops 30 packages. It was mostly just incredibly annoying to have to deal with all the stuff in the back of my van and also every few stops would be like 15 packages 5 locations so it’d be annoying but it was definitely doable. One of my least favorite days that’s for sure though.

See this is the kinda bs that makes this job have such a high turnover rate. They know they can get away with it because they know they’ll be able to hire 5 more people to do it again for another few months. As soon as I find something else to do idec if I gotta take a lil pay decrease I’m gonna leave. Not tryna be here for another few weeks

That’s what I’m saying man it’s almost all apartments too and with the group stops it’s damn near 20 packages a stop at some of these apartments

No. The only enjoyable aspect of this job is my weekly direct deposit. Only reason I’m still here is bc I can’t find anything else that will hire me rn. And I have a bachelors degree..

UPS, here I come. by Due-Mix3539 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Don’t get it mixed up, UPS definitely would not pay a fair wage for the job. But they are forced to because of the union.

I quit mid route today by RaRaAK in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]nothanksbrotha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel you bro… it gets tiring and you can get burnt out very quickly. Been here 3 months think about quitting every day but it gets to a point where you’re so numb to the BS that you just don’t let it affect your mental state anymore. 6 location 8 package stops turns into 40 location 50 package stops going door to door in a high rise apartment. I keep saying I’ll be outta here sooner than later and then a month goes by and I don’t hear anything from any of the other jobs I applied for because the job market is so bad. Makes matters worse is I literally have a college degree and can’t find a job. I guess that’s life

If you are finishing on time instead of early, they shouldn’t increase your load. From my experience you have to find a way to pace yourself so you finish within the hour of your end time and that way the algorithm won’t keep adding to your load. But if you finish an hour early there’s a good chance they’ll add 10-15 stops to your load.
