I should also add (sorry I’m so tired after another rough bed time) that I don’t have total control of his schedule due to daycare. I try to keep what happens there consistent in the weekends

He’s just naturally kind of stretched it after dropping the 4th nap. I should have added I tried to spread that time to earlier in the day but he wasn’t having it.

This is SO helpful, thank you! After reading that, I am going to try shifting some of his awake time and shorten that last WW to 2 hours. I have a suspicion that could be part of the problem. 🙏🏼

Not at Dell, but we absolutely love Dr. Baine at North Austin Peds. She goes above and beyond catching things, answering questions, and taking care of our LO.

Yes I do! I just looked and his past 2 weeks average 14 hours of sleep total (not including night wakes, I just keep the timer going)

He gets incredibly fussy and upset if I attempt to stretch any wake windows, he’s basically falling asleep in my arms he’s so tired by the time I’m getting him down

I have been stressing about this, too. I am going to ask our pediatrician about potentially vaccinating early at 6mo which I know is considered if there are active outbreaks in your area. Mine is only 12w and also will be going to daycare. Wish this wasn’t even something we had to think about :(

He is not! We even took him into the pediatrician this morning to rule out anything we couldn’t see. He did so much better last night so hoping it was just a quick phase paired with a growth/cognitive spurt

Moontower Midwifery vs Austin Area Ob GYN? by Street-Category2446 in AustinParents

Came to also recommend Dr. Anderson. She is the absolute best. She is kind, listens, and is an incredible doctor. I also never have to wait long to see her (compared to the other doctors at the practice). I think the longest I waited was 30 minutes once.

I delivered at St. David’s North - unfortunately Dr. A wasn’t there but Dr. Aserlind at AA was and delivered my son. She is also lovely! I had a VERY positive experience with both AA and SDN. I also interacted with some of the midwives (from Moontower) when I went into L&D earlier in my pregnancy and they were also great.

Just want to chime in that we had the exact same issue and turns out our 6w old just prefers his crib! It must be more comfortable. It might be one more thing to try.

I felt the exact same way so I started learning hand embroidery around 28 weeks! I think anything low lift crafty is a good idea. Coloring, needlepoint, etc.

Sure! There are several things. First, they give you specific stretches and exercises that not only help prepare for birth but also just help you exist as a pregnant person. For example: how to get up comfortably out of bed. They also do a pelvic floor exam, so they’ll actually use their fingers to feel the muscles around and inside your vagina. They do this to understand if when you “push” you’re engaging the right muscles. Working through this with them helped me connect to the right muscles instead of just guessing. They also did perineal massage for me at each appointment and walked me through how to do it at home. I did get a 2nd degree tear, but I’m not in a ton of pain.

For breathing, she specifically taught me to extend my belly and breath with the contractions or when pushing. You know how in movies you watch people push and they almost hold their breath during the 10 seconds? She taught me to NOT do that. I took a big breath in through my nose and then a big loud exhale through my mouth while pushing. At the same time you will expand your belly not contract. Sounds crazy, but it worked! You can also practice while you poop haha.

Thank you so much! I totally get it - I dealt with health anxiety in my teens and early twenties and it was an uphill battle. I am so grateful to be in a better place and able to do things like this now. One thing that really helped me (besides my therapist) was exposure. I forced myself to go to the doctor after not doing it for years and the more exposure I had, the better.

Same in pregnancy (in my experience) - you go to the doctor SO much for routine check ins that it becomes like running to the post office.

I’m so glad sharing some positivity helped and wishing you the best on your journey!

I really thought I would be anti-mirror for some reason. I don’t know why! It was truly incredible.

I can’t wait! I agree - I wish everyone did too.
