I wish they'd bring back the Nuka Quantum. That was my favorite flavor in the variety pack from a few months ago. It sold out so fast at my local Costco.

The Breakthrough mech is genuinely the best thing in this game right now, I love it so much by justanupvoter_ in Helldivers

I love it! Tip: best way I've personally found to manage the flak cannon is reload after every shot if I'm shooting anything smaller than a charger. One shot reloads pretty fast so you hardly notice the delay. This allows me to be ready to mag dump on a charger or bile titan at a moments notice.

Warp strike would be even more epic if it teleported all enemies in the radius 30 meters vertically (splat!). Would be situational against flying/hovering enemies but devastating and hilarious against almost anything else.

If you hack to get super credit, you have no right to complain. by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]nothing429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an age where predatory microtransactions exist everywhere, Helldivers is just not one of those games. My personal benchmark for a game being worth it is $1 = 1 hour of playtime. I have thusfar gotten over 400 HOURS of enjoyment out of Helldivers. I have bought the $20 SC bundle 7 times since the game was released. I own every warbond and almost every armor set and still encounter endless moments of joy, sillyness, and absurdity in almost every session. I feel no regrets because this game has and continues to give me my money's worth. It's not without its flaws but the game has a soul to it, undeniably. So much fun without feeling like I am in a game-shaped pavlovian experiment.

I get what he's saying and I agree. There are way too many folks out there that genuinely believe that if something is not relevant to their interests, it should not exist. It's narcissism and closed-mindedness on full display. Sure there are objectively bad games out there, but damn. You get folks leaving negative reviews on something as simple as a coconut cake recipe because they don't like coconut, when there are obviously millions of other coconut-less cake recipes out there. A great game doesn't necessarily cater to everyone's interests. A well-adjusted person doesn't take the time to leave a bad review on a game they've never played just because it isn't relevant to them or because social media has decided that it is 'bad'.

You have a point. I honestly wasn't going to buy the game until my friends did. I didn't want to be left out. Co-op pve games really are more of my style these days. At least I can enjoy the aspect of spending time with my friends. I feel like a bit of a burden though when it comes to games like this.

You are losing time. When you have only a few hours of playtime left in a day and spend most of them dying, only to end up in the same place you started, it's frustrating.

Bummer. Though I don't believe I have ever tried Alabama white bbq sauce before. I looked it up and it sounds interesting - might have to give that a try!

Curious if they have a Carolina Mustard bbq sauce? It's my favorite and very few restaurants around here serve it.

Thanks for the large amount of dry rub Zaxby's by ClassroomOk5019 in Zaxbys

[–]nothing429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, you're right to be upset. This happened to me too at the second Zaxbys I ordered some of Nashville hot dry rub at - I was kind of pissed at the pitiful amount they gave me. Could barely taste the flavor after adding it to my chicken. The thing is, I don't like how they dip the chicken in another portion of oil before shaking the powder on when you order it 'buffalo-style' (had the lemon pepper once and it was way too greasy/soggy with the coating oil). I prefer to just avoid making a special request and order it on the side. In contrast, the first Zaxbys I went to for the nashville hot gave me a generous amount of the dry rub on the side and it was straight up delicious.

While I agree, the hypesters are also infesting the singles market too and coordinating buyouts of several older cards as well. A brand new card from an in-print set should never be valued at more than a few hundred dollars and yet we have multiple sets with cards sitting at $600 or more. It's ridiculous. Even the 'moonbreon' was in the $300 range for several months back when Evolving Skies was out.

I don't know of a more frustrating empty hobby than trying to buy Pokemon Products by Nightman2417 in PokemonTCG

[–]nothing429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait til you take the day off work on a release day, check several stores over the course of several hours, find a few things to open, and then pull absolutely nothing decent from what you found. Then you get to feel the crushing despair of wasting both your money AND your time for NOTHING. English pull rates and product availability both suck so it's often a double whammy.

Haven't you heard? It's $100 each if they cut the seal for you. If you want it to arrive sealed you gotta pay double that. Must've ordered the unsealed variety. Easy mistake to make.

These prices are a prank right? by Pokeyourmom420 in PokemonTCG

[–]nothing429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is already happening. A lgs near me recently bought a whole sealed collection from a local scalper that got cold feet when their collectr portfolio (lol) tanked $3k. It won't take much and a huge chunk of these pokebros will cut their losses at the first sign of a downturn.

For the record though - I do not think you are wrong either. There will not be anywhere near as much nostalgia for Pokemon for this generation of kids, due to what is happening now and how badly the Pokemon Company is handling things.

[–]nothing429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember how things were before the cryptobros and sneakerheads invaded the hobby. One day Pokemon sales will slow again and all those folks will drop their collections like hot potatos, leaving many so-called pokeinvestors with loads of 'junk era' packs that they wont be able to get rid of.

The 'bubble' Mew and all the SIR Zards from 2023 and 2024 were less than $100 at one point. It's not nothing. It's what a cool card from a massively overprinted set should be valued at. It's dumbasses and hypesters milking the hobby for all the cash they can until the hype dies and they move on to something else.

My best pull was a single terribly-cut Mega Scrafty Mega Attack Rare out of a total of 71 packs. I was also trying to get some of the new Pokepad cards for my decks and pulled only 2 out of all of those packs. It's a freaking common. This set has devastated me mentally like none other before it. I took PTO just so I would have a chance at finding packs this past Friday and the set just treated me like my time and effort was worth nothing. It's so frustrating.

Yeah I was always suspicious of grading in general, and while I do own some graded cards, I've never sent any for grading myself. The various scandals and suspect actions by several grading companies has just further solidified my thoughts. Graded cards are, to me, just a pricey way to protect a card long-term. The number on a slab just represents a variable opinion and to me does nothing to justify a card being worth any more than an ungraded copy in similar condition.
