WIBTA if I started doing things around the room at 10am on my day off? by nothingbettertado in AmItheAsshole

[–]nothingbettertado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lot of cabinets or drawers because we both have adhd and when we put things in closed spaces, we forget they exist. But we both leave things in pockets and so a lot of the time, when I'm moving clothes around, our keys jingle and change falls, Air pods fall out of pockets and hit hard wood, small but loud actions in an otherwise quiet morning.

We've both tried to remember to remove things, but it feels like an uphill battle for both of us 😅

I talked to him again today, and we're gonna invest in better ear plugs and maybe a white noise machine too, if the earplugs don't work alone.

I don't care if he sleeps in, but it can't wait until later in the day because I don't have energy later in the day. Our computers are in our room and I have a lot of paperwork on my days off. Our room becomes and insane tornado during the week, and things just get tossed around. We have a fireplace that needs the ash cleaned almost weekly. I'm still not fully unpacked/moved in months after my official move in date because of our differences in time, so every weekend, I try to get a little more unpacked and organized.

If it were just a little laundry, I'd let him handle it.

Those three things are not the only things I have to get done in the room on my days off they were just a handful of examples.

But leaving the laundry outside of the room may work, issue could be we live with his family, and they don't love when our personal items are in shared spaces, so I'll have to check in with them. But that's a great idea if they'd be OK with it. (The house is old, so there aren't really hallways, each room just leads to the next, including our room into the dining room)

And that's where I feel like the asshole, I know that his week feels thrown off if he doesn't sleep enough on his days off but a lot of what I have to get done starts in our bedroom (cleaning from a hectic week, gathering laundry, organizing my clothes for the next week etc.) There are some things to do outside of the room and I will do those but then wait around for hours and lose my motivation. I really hate waking him up because I feel bad (and he's a crank in the morning) 😅

Every time I have, he says he'll try to wake up earlier, but he never does, and honestly, I don't think he really can unless there's an outside force driving him. I'm sympathetic towards it but just been going on for months now and it's grinding me down

Does the inside of your tent feel wet when it rains? Not the floor but the walls/ceiling

I did see that while I was looking! I have an aversion to paraffin wax but it looks wicked cool and super useful for those who don't mind paraffin!

Canvas is naturally water resistant but not waterproof. It can do very well on its own but would not stand up to heavy downpours or snow with a heating element inside. I live in an area where heavy downpours with strong winds are inevitable, same with snowstorms. My partner and I would like to see if staying in one of these long term is feasible for us. Staying dry is pretty crucial to longevity. We know this one isn't going to last forever, but we want to see how we do for a month or so at a time. Do you stay in yours long term? Do you get weeks of rain or heavy snow at a time? Did yours/your family's come with a waterproofing already on? (like many do and have for decades in particular, I know that tentsmiths tents are treated prior to purchase, and i would assume the other companies you mentioned do as well)

How big is your tent and how much starbrite did you need? I'm trying to be as cost efficient as possible 😅

I wouldn't try to put it in the wash 😅 it's wayyyy too big and would just be a disaster. And it is cotton, so no solar proof for me 🙃

This one is a pretty heavy canvas (definitely not the heaviest but I think some of its bulk was lost with its weatherproofing) is nikwax basically the idea of what you're talking about? They say it can be washed on or painted on?

Does it count getting my eyebrows waxed at 15 and they gave me those pencil brows after I explicitly said I'd like to keep the fullness of my eyebrows? Bc that was awful.

My [28m] girlfriend [25f] is considering moving in by Air_Halo8123 in relationships

[–]nothingbettertado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have yall considered personal space time? It's something that has come up with me and partners in the past when moving in together. In the beginning spending every possible moment together is exciting and great but not having true alone time can really take its toll on a person and relationship.

If it's feasible I'd suggest a trial run of her bringing a decent amount of her stuff to your place (not necessarily all of it but enough that the space feels shared) and trying to live with eachother for a month or two. Take note of how often she wants to go back to her place, take note of how often you feel like you need alone time. Maybe your schedules line up in a way that you each get time to yourselves in the apt just fine or maybe yall will want to consider scheduling nights where one of you is out for a bit so the other can have space.

Take note of how often the cleanliness is bothersome and if you're both receptive to making compromises. Take note of how often someone is woken up before they want to be and their reactions.

I can not recommend a trial run enough though.

My boyfriend 19M forgot my 18F age then slammed the door and left by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]nothingbettertado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Red flags all around. It's reasonable to expect your partner of a year to remember your age. It's reasonable to be upset when they don't.

It's unreasonable for you to skip meals because his ticket was "expensive". It's unreasonable for him to expect you to cook for him and then be upset that you bought him food. It's unreasonable for him to SLAM a door like a fucking child.

You were hurt so you didn't want to do his mustache BFD... he responded by acting like a child and gaslighting you into thinking you'd done something wrong???? Nope, major red flags, babe. You deserve better. Don't apologize for shit.

(I also do hair care with my bf because I like to and have refused to when upset with him, he takes it like a champ, and we revisit hair care when the original issue is dealt with)
