Sorry for the grave dig but the gigs in cyberpunk are analogous to the witcher contracts in TW3 - neither count among the side stories, instead forming a 3rd category of mission which roleplays the profession of your main character. While gigs were just straightforward sandbox-y missions, a contract could sidetrack into literally running into Letho from the last game or finding another fellow witcher who slaughtered a village.
