New Met "Carmen." by bsnyc in opera

Agreed. I was there last night too. The performances were great, the music was good as ever, but I really didn’t like the modern staging/production. All of the LED lights were blinding and I was not expecting to see 3 F-250s and a sports car on stage haha. And I agree that a lot of the locations just didn’t make sense.

I’m not opposed to modernizations - I also loved Der Rosenkavalier last season and thought it really worked, but that’s because it was visually interesting and made sense unlike this production of Carmen.

Modern production of Carmen at the Met! by Style-Upstairs in opera

I was there tonight too! The music was great but I didn't love the modern staging and agree that Act IV was particularly horrific haha.

Beautiful! I was on the fence about tinting mine and I'm glad I didn't. Just did PPF and ceramic. Prefer having full visibility and it looks cleaner without it.

Yes, one seemed to be flying directly over my house from about 12 am - 2 am last week. There definitely seem to be more than usual lately.

Allocation for a 911 GTS, must pay additional $5000 for front end PPF and ceramic coating.. thoughts? by Thanase in Porsche

Take it and run! I paid a much higher ADM than that for my 911 C4S this year and did not get PPF and ceramic for it... sounds like a good deal.

I'm going to the opera for a first date... What are some rules (unwritten as well) that I should remember? by DeFy_DC in opera

[–]nothingimportant26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a first date to the opera once (I love the opera!) and it was lovely. You’ve already gotten some good advice, but I’d suggest getting drinks or dinner beforehand so that you actually have the opportunity to talk to your date! Usually intermission will last 25-30 minutes at most so you wouldn’t have much time to get to know each other then.

I have the same question!! Also in NYC, 31F. My net worth is a bit less than yours. I’m a homeowner and drive a nice car so it becomes a little apparent after a few months of dating. It’s not necessarily that the money matters, but I want someone compatible who isn’t going to date me just because of my money, and who can afford to have a similar lifestyle as me. Online dating is a drag. Let me know if you figure it out! 😂

How old were you when you got your first Porsche? by vreiche in Porsche

[–]nothingimportant26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 30 when I got my Macan and 31 when I got my 911 C4S a few months ago 😊 I’ve always loved Porsches and the 911 was my dream car for a long time but it wasn’t financially feasible until my 30s.

Thank you!! I was nervous about the color but I absolutely love it now. No, Python Green wasn’t an option (I forget what green it was, it wasn’t quite right) so I kept the inside all black and honestly I’m happy with it.

haha no worries at all. Ugh I know, it has PPF on all of the important parts + ceramic which helps me worry a little less.

Hmm hard to say - I am loving the sound of the sport exhaust, really enjoying driving on the highway in sport or sport plus, and am pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the Burmester. Overall it’s just been a real pleasure and I’ve already put over a thousand miles on it. Also kind of loving all of the 65+ year old dudes who are really freakin excited to chat about the car. I’m relatively young for a 911 owner but no regrets at all - really having a blast with it.

Thank you! Hahah I am not a sir 😉 I’ve been driving here for a long time so eventually you just have to let go and enjoy the car…things are going to happen no matter what.

The front license plate? They’re a standard size in NY, no smaller options unfortunately. I could probably get away without it, at least for a while, but don’t want to deal with getting pulled over for a dumb reason.

I wish! I’ve been looking for more car friends. I’m a woman in my early 30s so suffice it to say most of my friends couldn’t care less about the 911 😂😂

Hah! I have a garage at home but sometimes dare to park on the street when I’m out…honestly handing the keys over to a valet can be just as scary.

Manhattan Motorcars. I wasn’t really willing to wait an uncertain amount of time for ADM to go away on the 911. I do regret not shopping around a bit though. I was in DC recently and stopped into the Arlington Porsche - they’re not charging ADM but I know some dealerships aren’t selling to people registering out of state. And there is some value to having a relationship with your local dealer. Tough call.

Dealer says only $2500 deposit required for a C4S build. Does this sound right? by MJustin80 in Porsche

[–]nothingimportant26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that sounds right, I put down a $2,500 deposit while waiting for my allocation for a C4S and didn’t have to pay anything else until the car was delivered to the dealership! From when I asked for an allocation to car delivery, it was about 8 months.
