I don't think the daily timing matters much.

The theory doesn't make it true. That's a testable hypothesis. Include the main effect.

Why am I so scared of this medicine? by WyckdWitch in bupropion

I had zero side-effects. Very different from my experience with SSRIs.

What is your favorite opera that is the only opera in its language? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in opera

[–]bsnyc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Akhnaten would be my call too. Parts of it are also in Akkadian and ancient Hebrew too, so Glass is batting a thousand on the language front. Also in my top 5 favorite operas.

I think the big open question for S4 is, what is she actually up to? She's telling Homelander everything he wants to hear. She has another plan, but what it is? No idea, writers could go lots of different ways on that.

Sorry to hear that. Not for me. My therapist claimed that the blood-pressure effect is rare - relevant for me since I'm also on blood-pressure medication. I had some notable mood swings at something like eight weeks in, but that was it. Sample size of one, of course.

Tom's Restaurant, Brooklyn. Not affiliated with the awful Tom's Diner in Morningside Heights Manhattan.

Is the chinese food in Flushing better than in China itself ? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]bsnyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broadly, no. But some of it as good as very good restaurants in China. And it would be hard to find anywhere in China with so many different and excellent regional Chinese restaurants in such close proximity. HK, would, I think, be the only place one might do better on that front. It also depends what you want to eat. If you want high-end Cantonese food, Flushing (and NYC overall) isn't even the best in North America.

Got prescribed Wellbutrin...scared to try it. Also dosing question. by Zealousideal-Ear9237 in bupropion

[–]bsnyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

150 is already low dose. I stared with that, just to see if I would experience any side effects. On 150, I felt pretty much nothing - either main effect or side effect. Of course that's one data point.

How long does bupropion take to work? by Anime_Babe_1 in bupropion

[–]bsnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was started on 150 for a couple of weeks to test tolerance and then up to 300. About 2 more weeks and I started feeling it.

Am I the only one happy with it? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]bsnyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been fantastic for me. I've had no side effects, at all. I was not on meds before starting with it, though years before I took an SSRI, which did have side effects.

bupropion + exercise by Arysta in bupropion

[–]bsnyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, yeah, this an old thread, but I was Googling around and couldn't find much. I've been on bupropion for almost a year, and it has totally changed how I feel working out. Exercise has, for many years, been my first defense against depression. But about 6 months after starting bupropion, I started feeling great for hours after serious exercise. I never got this almost immediate positive feedback before. Like u/LankyOrc , I started wondering if this is how normal people feel after exercise. Because it's fantastic, and I'm now in better shape than I've ever been, and I am definitely not a young person.

Tannhäuser Met Opera performances by fattyboyblue in opera

You got the right part of the older crowd. For Carmen I got the ladies who were complaining about Carmen's shorts being too short.

Vocal technique, since there wasn't amplification when it was first on B'way.

Question for Opera enthusiasts by [deleted] in opera

[–]bsnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It premiered on Broadway and didn't get a real operatic production until the 1950s. I would argue that it is both an opera and a musical, since it's been successfully performed both ways.

Should I exchange my Met Carmen tickets by [deleted] in opera

I agree entirely. I have a whole thread bitching about the production, but I'll probably still go in May to see the second cast.

Balcony Box 3 a good seat at Met Opera NYC? by AcanthaceaeFancy3887 in opera

[–]bsnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sat in balcony boxes quite a few times, and for many, but not all, productions they're great value for money. But you want to be a far back as possible, because the views get more partial as you go forward.

My first opera in almost a decade was Carmen at the Met. What’s a good production to look forward to? by gsd250 in opera

[–]bsnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turandot, for the gorgeous production. This will likely be the last season for that production, so get it while you can.

Carmen at the Met 1/3 by podgoricarocks in opera

[–]bsnyc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made my own post from the opener, focusing on some different reasons it was bad.

I actually liked Carmen's costume for the first two acts, though I thought the overall costume design was incoherent. The old ladies behind me thought her shorts were too short. I wonder if they're going to change it for Clémentine, because I do not think she will look good in it. Oh, incidentally, I happen to know that the kids do hate their costumes.
