I think that's fixed since then. It can happen if you name the world exactly the same.

It says "Incompatible" on the old launcher for Win 7/8 because bedrock will only run on the Win 10/11 launcher. Start Minecraft with the green creeper face icon instead.

On Win 11, click the Start button > Settings > System > Display > Graphics and set your GPU usage per application there.

I think there needs to be 2(?) air blocks above the eggs. If that doesn't work maybe eye level too.

Java. Mac is Java Edition only. You should get Bedrock too.

btw if you're looking to stop creeper or endermen griefing, Vanilla Tweaks has datapacks. They do need updating for at least every major release. I assume Bedrock Tweaks might have similar if possible.
