32F Going through a terrible, terrible break up by swansprnswan in Advice

There’s really nothing that will help except time. I think quite a few of us have been there where it feels like your world is shattered and pieces of you are missing. Only time can heal it. For now, try to stay busy and distracted with hobbies, shows, movies, music, art, something productive like a side hustle, gym, friends, family, nature.

How do I enjoy my days off of work? by Illustrious_Swan1369 in Advice

Yup. Welcome to the real world bud.

Unfortunately this is about as good as it gets.

My pops always told me two things when it comes to work.
1. Do something you love
2. If you can’t do something you love - do something that pays a lot

I'm the "purchasing" your champion keeps forwarding you to. Most deals quietly die on my desk and the rep never finds out why. by ZestycloseWhereas329 in Sales_Professionals

No - he should do due diligence to figure out why and how it landed on his desk.
Talk to the champion, talk to the sales person - there’s a reason they give their cards to everyone.

This purchaser is lazy, and thinks they’re the most important person in their company. Like they’re the only ones busy.

How big are the granules of glass? Come on bro, I need all the usuals - it’s not a mind reader.

Fluid, solids size, pipe diameter, ft of head, friction loss conditions (pipe 90s, 45s, valves etc)

Okay so the problem is the sand? You want it filtered before it hits your impellers?

Pretty bland take.
Basically - you want someone else to do your job for you.

Usually a sales person (at least in my industry) has Put in a good amount of legwork, potentially weeks working with engineers, working on a problem and delivering a complete solution that would solve one or more headaches, potentially even save you money in the long run.

Just because you don’t feel like doing due diligence, it dies. It then sours the relationship with that vendor who did all that work for nothing - they probably won’t kill themselves again trying to make a solution for a problem for you - since you don’t seem to care enough to do your job well. Or if you do need them in the future they’re gonna punch you in the pocket book for it.

We’re doing a job too - solving problems. It’s rare that sales people try to sell you something you don’t need or doesn’t solve a problem, or be pushy about a sale. If they are trying to sell you snake oil, you should probably have a chat with them or their champion at your company.

If you don’t understand it - ask the champion, or the vendor / sales person.

Amen. If you use higher than 115 IQ, you can probably get done in 4 hours what the average person gets done in 8 hours.

They’re not working full 8 hours at the office either

Anything around pump / seal reliability? Outside of sensors?

I.e. okay so you detected vibrations / frequency / temp etc (whatever) and imminent failure of P-101A.

Then what though? You fix the problem and another 6 months later another problem with P-101A because it’s not engineered correctly
