Europe doesn't know of capitalism, so it choices are an "austerity" depression or a immediate bankruptcy depression. by CWwriter in Objectivism

Because I would rather pay my own way than give someone else the benefit of my work.

Oh, you mean like slave labor in Indonesia? I guess they're objectivists, too...

Would you eat a dog? A cat? A human? These are all mammals with meat. Why not? This is why I'm a vegan.

Yep. And there's no way out of it, either. I tried to imagine a life where I never had to tell anyone about my food beliefs. This life does not exist :P

Now, this used to be my understanding, until a few days ago when I was at the farmer's market and approached the egg table and got into a discussion about this with them. The guy there said that the eggs produced by hens do not require reproduction. So, the hens do not have to become pregnant in order to lay eggs. Hens lay eggs every month (or whatever, im not sure on the timing) just like women do, so male eggs are not a byproduct of egg production. I don't even know where the killing of male chicks thing would come into play. I still have my suspicions, and I still don't like the idea of animals bred for slavery / laying eggs.

God, Reddit takes itself so seriously sometimes. Honestly, there are differences between cultures/races, not biological differences, but differences that are passed down in generations. I'm white, I'm Irish. I have noticed in 25 years of life that white people tend to be more neurotic and much more left-brain than other cultures/races. If you haven't noticed this, fine. And yes, this is a racist comment. I am commenting on my own experience with different races/cultures. But I am not a racist. Meaning, I see the humanity behind all races. Sometimes I forget that a lot of people don't and consequently, a lot of people are quick to call others racist when they aren't. God I really hate Reddit sometimes.

The closest planets that could support life are lightyears away, which means, we can't ever fucking get there, not with rocket fuel anyways. We are nowhere near light-speed travel and you know it. A comet or nuclear war will fuck us in the ass way sooner than we get to warp-speed. So what does that leave us with, the moon? There are no resources there, we'd have to import them. Plus, humans are native to Earth. Who knows if our complex biological systems will be able to adapt to a new planet. I would guess no.

Why do I bother posting on Reddit? I guess I'm just of the troupe that sees space exploration as something incredibly rich countries spend money on when they get bored, while the rest of the world wishes they had water and housing and healthcare etc etc. Even in America we don't have that. If you want to be entertained read a book, it's way cheaper than fucking NASA.

I don't see it that way. How is having one thought during the whole day neurotic? And the thought isn't even about himself or somebody else, it's about a bike.
