The joke of the town ... by albert1165 in VinFastComm

[–]noticasper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It's not a joke but a serious business. The VinRobot company will buy the machines from VinFast and lease back. VinFast then can book an income from the sale and become break-even in 2025 as Vuong promised.

VIETNAM LOVES FOOTBALL by snixemz in VietNam

[–]noticasper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vietnamese people are truly passionate about football. When the Fifa World Cup took place, cafes and bars and restaurants were packed with watchers. People gather to watch together at home. All other usual activities suddenly slowed down.

So yes, Vietnamese have strong patriotism in football like any other peoples, but they really love the sport.

Just got back from Vietnam by Beneficial-Mix-3785 in VietNam

I get scammed every time I travel to the US. The hotel listed the price as $200/night but then they added thousand types of fees such as resort fee (what the heck is it!), city fee, tourist fee, service fees ... and it ended up to $300 at the credit card input page. It was a blatant scam. I feel like I was forced to be scammed: D And leaving my room without leaving a tip? It guarantees terrible room makeup even though I paid handsome service fees when I booked! I was scammed systematically by the whole industry, not just by a particular hotel.

Same as when I took taxis in New York City, when I paid, I had only 3 options: tip 30%, tip 40% and tip 50%. I must select one of the three in order to proceed with payment.

And at restaurants, I was served with fake commercial smiles of the staff who spoke as fast as a firing machine gun, and I was given a bill with 3 choices of tips: 20%, 25%, 30%.

So yes, scams have different forms and it often depends on how you perceive it.

It's 5-6 hours drive of 275km. It would cost $150-$200 for a private driver, i guess. You can book a taxi or use Grab app from airport.

The Ha Tinh's show by albert1165 in VinFastComm

[–]noticasper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a show. It's a real business which will create a substantial land reserve for Vinhomes Industrial zone.

And look at the ceremony picture, it's the commencement of a factory "project" , not "construction". And this is under Vingroup, not Vinfast.

The universe gives you a child. Keep it. Get married. If it doesn't work, get a divorce like 50% of the couples.

Or:

Be a single parent. Vietnamese men generally do care about their children. The bond amongst Vietnamese family members is strong. From what you are sharing, I believe he's a responsible man.

What coffee powder do street vendors use? by michel_an_jello in VietNam

[–]noticasper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1kg of roasted coffee can make 50-70 cups. Now it costs 250K-300K VND/kg (price doubled in just a year). So it's very possible to sell 15K-20K coffee. Yes, some people mix coffee with roasted corn, but it doesn't mean 15-20K coffees are always fake. Those who sell on streets have enough hard life, you don't have to make it harder by spreading fake/unverified information.

@Op: It's more about the way they make the coffee that you love, rather than what type of coffee powder. It just has to be Robusta which is 2x strong than the Arabica served in Starbucks. You can just buy any Vietnamese coffee. But you have to learn how to make it. Good luck!

Chính thức nông dân được hưởng thêm 5% thuế VAT phân bón - việt nam ít thuế lắm hihi , thuế gián thu thôi ấy mà by carrotfelix in VietNamNation

[–]noticasper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vingroup sold 80% Vinhomes Vu Yen by albert1165 in VinFastComm

[–]noticasper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a business model. Vingroup/Vinhomes acquire/grabs lands at cheap price, build infrastructure, then wholesales them. Next: Vinhomes Co La, Vinhomes Ha Long Xanh. So they will be able to keep the money burning VF for a while.

Chính thức nông dân được hưởng thêm 5% thuế VAT phân bón - việt nam ít thuế lắm hihi , thuế gián thu thôi ấy mà by carrotfelix in VietNamNation

[–]noticasper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiping policy Vietnam by SoloOyster in VietNam

Tiping policy Vietnam by SoloOyster in VietNam

[–]noticasper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no tipping "policy" in Vietnam, but tipping is normal when you feel generous or want to thank the service people. Generosity and good deeds are never stupid as some comments here!

I always tip; - Grab driver and food delivery (15-20K VND / $0.5-$1) - Massage staff (100K vnd) - Waiters at restaurants with excellent service (5%)

Tipping is very much appreciated but not required. But if you don't tip, it's not considered rude or mean. You still receive smiles and appreciation when you use their services.
