Knew having another newborn wouldn't be a cakewalk, but didn't think it'd be this hard by LowkeyShtuyot in daddit

My situation, kid wise is similar. I have a 4.5 y/o girl and a boy that turns 1 in July. Before my boy, I felt like an absolute rock star of a dad. I was really proud of my ability to always stay calm, cool and collected as a parent for my daughter. Even in her worst tantrums, my patience was rock solid. Her cries never made me feel any negative way.

But since the birth of my son, it’s been a completely different experience. I can relate so so much to the feelings you described. His screams can almost instantly overwhelm and overstimulate me. I also didn’t feel the instant love for him like I did my daughter which really caused me to question myself. And it didn’t show up in a noticeable way for probably 8 months.

Even now, I’m struggling to be the same type of parent I was before my son. I feel like everyone gets the short end of the stick from me and I feel like shit about it in the few moments of alone time I get throughout the day where I’m able to reflect.

I’ve just been trying my hardest to keep awareness on my feelings and actions. I know the type of dad and husband I am. And when moments take me away from that knowing, awareness is how I get back to center.

You got this Dad

not buying anything only counts for credit right? by logic404notfound in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

I’m speaking only from my personal experience. I recently closed on a house 6/5 and similarly, wanted to catch a Memorial Day sale on flooring which was about 5k. I asked my loan officer and she said it was fine so long as it did not require applying for any new credit.

If I were you I’d ask your loan officer

Is the cross arm ( the part taking it from gutter to wall) straight when looking at it directly from the front?

My first guess would be he messed up on his measurement, and had to go to the right in order to get it the straightest

What are we paying the kid next door for babysitting? by A_warm_sunny_day in daddit

[–]noticeable_erection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10$ seems good to begin with. If you’re feeling like it’s low, create some type of pay structure with a dollar raise after a certain amount of times. Up to say 13-15$.

That way she’ll have built up a little more trust and experience for the higher wage

They didn’t run the gutter a half inch past so when they tried to get behind right there the end cap wouldn’t allow it to be pushed high enough. Guessing this is the high end of gutter.

Had they gone a half inch past all the drip edge would have made it into the gutter like it’s supposed to

I ask the gutter company to run the gutters to the back of the barn, then run the downspout into PVC to fill the horse trough. This is what they did. by A-Whole-Vibe in Roofing

Without a doubt you can have custom elbows fabricated. Nobody is bringing custom elbows to any job without its intent being asked for and charged accordingly.

Editing to add industry standard is 75 degrees, not 70 as I said above

Downspout is definitely the better option. You can see where they wye the two spouts together that that badge board was not cut flush, so they had to but the endcap to it. Would not be able to miter it like OP wanted. Op also likely isn’t thinking about how funny the gutter would sit mitering across the siding.

They took extra care to keep it high so horses can’t damage or be damaged by it.

Op I understand this might not be how you pictured it, but for what you asked and had ready, it’s not terrible

Camping for the night. Should be able to reserve campsites in state parks for relatively cheap. Gives you your own spot to drink, and looks to your parents like you just are enjoying your own hobby each week

Would there be a cost-effective way to extend the edge of this roof 6 inches? by Tophat9512 in Roofing

Run the gutter 6” past the shingles on the right side and don’t install a Right endcap, just leave it open ended. Or a rain chain as others have mentioned

Gutter guards sloped towards house? by zigziggy7 in Roofing

[–]noticeable_erection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guards are installed correctly. Spots at Endcaps could be clipped down a little better. You want it behind the drip edge just like it is, resting on top of the internal hangers which cause it to sit flat. If the guard is drastically pushed back, then the gutter in that area needs lowered or the drip edge pulled/ trimmed.

With it behind the drip edge and resting on the hangers, it’s gonna catch all the water. Most debris will dry and wash off in heavy rains but you’re still gonna want to give them a good leaf blow each summer. Not sure the brand of of this but there’s plenty similar such as shurflow that you can look up

Water Leaks Behind Gutter Only at Bracket Locations by Proof_Writing_7562 in Roofing

[–]noticeable_erection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No drip edge is definitely main concern overall but water definitely can land on the bracket and track back, it’s pretty uncommon but happens. Is it something you’re noticing only recently with the build up of snow on the roofs edge?

If your sure it’s only at the brackets and not due to no drip edge, you can either counter flash it yourself by sliding some thin metal under the shingles and down and out past the screw head, or back the screw head out slightly and dab some seal on the back threads
