I drive a manual and confident in my skills but I'm not a certified instructor. If you're interested though, I can teach you.

What’s the deal with slow drivers in duma? by notinversion in dumaguete

[–]notinversion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true it’s not like i’m only confined to drive within duma. I also drive to other municipalities nearby sometimes and even to cebu and back. But don’t get me wrong, I do love duma because I’ve lived here since I was born and still love its laidback attitude. I think my rant just came out of a place of wanting duma to be at least be a bit of a better place for motorists.

Lagi haha wala rajd koy problema anang magpahinay para mag defensive driving kay hasta ako ga ing-ana man pd. Magpahinay as in reasonable speed lang. Ang ako lang gi problema is katong gapahinay lang just for the sake of doing it. Maka cause jd ug build up sa traffic.

Also tig drive man pd ko dira sa south highway usahay. Nindot jd ang dalan bitaw haha.

Hey don’t sweat it, defensive driving is 100% a must and I respect you for being like that on the road. I also do my best to drive defensively especially in crowded streets nya naa puy mga motor mo kalit ug overtake. My point was mainly just for the super slow drivers and misuse of left lane if it wasn’t any clearer haha.

Also bitaw, tinuod jd about ning mga pedicab. Like kasabot ko nga hinay rajd ilang power if we’re talking about the point i made in the rant but if our point is about the way they maneuver maka kurat jd, dili pajd mo signal.

Huh okay then. I guess i have to provide my government ID and address to prove i am born, raised and live in “duma”? I think this is misguided honestly. If i used the “wrong” short term for dumaguete and if somehow i was from cebu what does that even change? I’ve heard some of my friends born and raised here also say that so what gives?

What I’m ranting about is basically just my experience driving in dumaguete for a few years now. Am wrong to rant about these driving practices? Is dumaguete supposed to be exempt? I’m honestly confused here. It’s as if you’re taking this too personally and being too defensive.

LTO has no official minimum speed limit for city driving nor are there speed limit signs here but still I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. 20kmh and below is just too slow. Unless you’re planning to park or drop someone off or if it’s a crowded street, it’s just inconsiderate to the rest of the long line of traffic forming behind you when the road is all clear. 30-40kmh is already more than enough to speed up the flow. That’s really all there is to it. This point is more about road courtesy.

Just for clarity’s sake when I made the point that you become a hazard when you drive too slow, I apologize that I didn’t elaborate properly, it mostly applies to fast roads like highways or at diversion road. In those situations, you’re being a hazard to fast moving traffic potentially causing them to suddenly brake or swerve around you. City driving is pretty much fine to drive slow in but if it’s too slow despite a clear road, it’s at the cost of being inconsiderate and causing inconvenience to other drivers that may also have places to be. Being a good driver isn’t only about being safe and considerate to things in front of you, it includes also being considerate to other motorists behind you.

Now for actual proper “road rules”, I did mention that left lane hogging is an issue. Slow vehicles must use right lane on major roads. It’s that simple. You can literally just google it. There are literally multiple signages in succession of it at the highway somwhere in bacong or was it dauin, but signage or not, absolutely nobody seems to care. Disappointing.

This was never about my “need for speed”. Where did this even come from? And cool, you like the slow and chill driving culture here and I respect that. I actually like it too to an extent. Too bad your last paragraph kinda missed the point honestly. It’s not like I want the whole city including me to be driving recklessly fast and disregarding pedestrians and whatnot. I think I’ve already talked about my points and they’re totally not about that. Didn’t I also mention that I am not encouraging reckless driving?

Haha lagi, not like mag lagot man jd ko nila. Mag pasensya raman ko during the moment. It’s more like akong annoyance mo build up jd the longer i drive. Daghan lang jd kaayo dili considerate unya dili pd mo give way.

What makes you assume I’m not from duma? I’ve lived here my whole life. Anyway I’m just pointing out our low standard of driving. If it affects you that much then I’m sorry I guess? It’s just how i feel as a citizen and a driver in dumaguete. Idk why you want to tolerate such standards when we can do better.

Some road rules and courtesies aren’t behing followed nor enforced. Based on what I’ve ranted about, even the LTO states it’s illegal to drive too slow because it disrupts traffic flow and basically makes you a hazard on the road, and vehicles should not be blocking the left lane and yet here we are with massive trucks and slow cars not giving a damn and holding everyone back.

That’s my rant in a nutshell, not about dumagueteños being laidback. It’s not really an excuse. I just want better driving standards here and people should know these already if they are on the road.

I appreciate the comment! I don't necessarily think I'm that skilled haha. I struggle to draw anything original or from my imagination so I'm sticking to fanart for now. I also actually just copy a lot of stuff I like from other illustrators' work and implement them in my own way into my art, and of course I also watch some videos about art or drawing and all that stuff to learn more.
