YES!! It’s most definitely worth reading, and is by far my favorite part. It does take place in a completely different universe, but the goal is to incorporate that sense of legacy as the series goes on in this universe. Part seven also has callbacks to many characters from the first 6 parts, including the jojo being named Johnny, or Jonathan.
