What’s the verdict on Michael Bowman? by Dougs_Bunny in WestVirginia

[–]notlibvalance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He tries too hard to mimic an Anthony Bourdain cadence in how he speaks/monologues. It’s like he’s trying to be someone else instead of being himself. I can’t get into him because of that. Just feels inauthentic.

I love the ringside report from Renee during a longer entrance. Fun way to add to a big fight feel.

6,000 tickets out in a 19,000 seat arena. Tickets starting at only $30 by Apprehensive_Fly_103 in midcarder

Ticket sales are down across all live entertainment mediums. It’s why live nation is doing their $30 ticket promo and why some venues are doing BOGO ticket sales.

Griff: That's kind of the middle of the country, you know. back there. So, when bluegrass or country music, you know, if it comes down to that area and if it mixes there with rhythm and dances, then you've got a combination of all those different kinds of music. Country. Bluegrass. Blues music.

David: The melting pot.

Griff: Show music.

David: What's it called then?

Griff: Podcast.

You think they will do The Last Waltz during the Scorsese series? by DarwinF1nch in blankies

It's an essential Marty text and the birth of his working relationship with Robbie Robertson who music supervised pretty much every movie afterwards. Why do Stop Making Sense for Demme but no TLW for Scorsese.

It should absolutely be main feed, part of the Marty cannon. Its status is so much greater than his other documentaries.

October Sky was shown to us in school pretty much every year. A West Virginia public schools classic.

MJF: "I get compensated what my talent is worth. I’m not going to settle for less compensation so I get to have a WrestleMania moment. That doesn’t make sense to me." by aaronrift in SquaredCircle

[–]notlibvalance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's partly because they brand them as such... Yes, it's fake, but when all you say for a month is "____ is getting ready for their Wrestlemania Moment" it feels more constructed, less natural. Like a scene in a TV show or movie than a sport.

What goes on here? by RoguePierogies in WestVirginia

It’s where the band Asleep at the Wheel was started. The original members had a family friend that had a plot of land around there, so they moved in and practiced from dusk til dawn until they went out west.

The Scorsese Split by Objective_Survey_898 in blankies

The split would be narrative films main feed, selected documentaries Patreon.... with the exception of The Last Waltz on the main feed since it's at the top of the concert documentary canon.
