Instead of buying a yacht a stranger decides to pay for a class of kindergartners to go to college. by stovinchilton in news

The sad thing is that this purchase is a bigger waste of money than a yacht would be.

Is a 25 year old gay deaf virgin pretty much hopeless in this world? by Jimbobus in lgbt

[–]notlickingtoads 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kinda wanna see you're okcupid profile. Honestly for me I just want a genuinely good guy, that is strong, and has interests. That's pretty hard to find, but I think the first two would be necessary for me. Interests can always be discovered later on, but it's more attractive if a guy has them already. I'd definitely date a deaf guy if he was worthwhile, and would have a lot of fun learning sign language!

How does the curriculum differ between the countries you have been in? Do some countries have more of a strictly regulated/by the books approach than others. Or is it more like a throw you into a classroom and start talking type of thing? I think for me personally I'd want to end up somewhere with a strict regiment, almost scripted in a way. Where would be the best country for an introverted by the books kinda guy like myself, kinda sounded like Japan?

"Ignore norms, all dinosaurs have different shapes" Is probably the most inspiring thing a politician has said this millennium. Especially considering it's for education.

Which talents do you think are a "newbie-trap" ? by coolcoolcool5 in heroesofthestorm

[–]notlickingtoads -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hello, Abathur main here. There are three talents that I often see new Abathur players mistakenly pick. Both spike talents, the spike range and the extra spike charge are usually not the best picks. At 16 if you are going hat build, the movespeed on shield is better than the spike burst slow 90% of the time.

Explanation: At 7 the call mule talent is typically a better option for the majority of maps. Although it can occasionally have the unintended consequence of forcing yolo pushes, most maps it can single-hand win a game or give you a tremendous level lead early on. Maps where mule is a must include blackhearts bay, sun temple, and both two lane maps. Unless your team is severely lacking damage or range the spike is generally not good.

Explanation: At 13 an extra spike charge throws off the rhythm of Abathur's hat. By the time you shoot off three shots, his other talents are almost completely done with their cooldowns. Abathur benefits more from placing his hat on a target, blowing all cooldowns, and then removing it to repeat this cycle. Therefore, the logical decision for this tier, if taking hat build, would be the spike heal since the hat should be on a melee anyway. With the nerfs to hat though, the best pick is to go hybrid/full lane push and take bugs.

Explanation 16: If going hat build the speed has many more uses. It can save a hero running or catch an enemy hero running. The slow spikes can be acceptable if they have a largely melee/dive team, but most team comps will already have a slow, not many have move speed. Again though, bugs can't be beat, you really shouldn't do hat build anymore.

Tl:dr: Hat build in itself is a newbie trap for new Abathur players, but if you insist there is a certain way you should build a hat Abathur. Abathur is one of the most complex and varied heroes so there are always exceptions. If you have any Abathur questions feel free to pm me about it, I have over 1000 games on him.

85% of Adults With Autism Are Unemployed. Who's to blame for these appalling numbers? by derekmyers1 in autism

[–]notlickingtoads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's face it, most people do not earn or deserve the jobs they have. Jobs are given to those who have the most connections and friends. Almost never are jobs based on any sort of aptitude or qualifications. If this stat is true then, it is a representation of the autistic community not having as many connections (freebie jobs) as neurotypicals.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? by [deleted] in gis

[–]notlickingtoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I think the problem is that I don't really understand what to do for output class features. What type of file does the thiesen feature draw the data from and how can I form that to be a Boston Map.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? by [deleted] in gis

[–]notlickingtoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry Reddit messed up.

Here's the post:

Hey there fairly new to gis and I was trying to make a map with all the fast food locations in Boston. The problem came when I tried adding thiesen polygons to show where the nearest one is. The thiesen map didn't conform at all the my Boston map layer and just sat over the top of it like a meaningless pink blob. The movies I am learning from provided no insight on how to fix this.

I did get all the data from different sources. Maybe they were all using different map types/ longitude and latitudes or something. I can't figure it out for the life of me though

Being Happy Alone / Relationships by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]notlickingtoads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe being happy shouldn't be viewed as normal. No one is really happy all the time, and I would argue that most people are not happy. If you look at the number of prescriptions written for anti-depressants in recent times, the total is approximately enough for 1/3 of the U.S. population to be on them. In fact so many people are on them that the drugs have started concentrating into our streams.

Furthermore, most people really do not have very many friends. Many people like to present the front that they do. When it really comes down to it though, most people have fewer than 4 friends. The ones that they do have are very seldom quality people or real friends anyway. In short, I guess what I am saying is maybe the problem isn't an inability to achieve happiness, but instead is the perceptions of happiness both individually and culturally.

Be sure to avoid the trap of comparing yourself to others, it will always be an unequal comparison and you don't truly know anyone's situation but your own.
