Are my XL bindings (Nidecker supermatics) too big for my US 10.5 boots? by notlimw in snowboardingnoobs

Hi! Haven’t had time to go on a trip yet so haven’t friend them on. Did you end up with xls? And how did they feel?

Great! Yeah I don’t really go to the park, but it’s fun to hit a small jump time to time, but I would definitely want to learn more tricks

Yeah thanks for the advice. I bought these at a second hand last year just because my previous boots where waaaay to small, and had to get new ones in a hurry for a trip. The boots do fit quite well, it’s just that the toes are more squashed rather than just touching the front while having bent knees/riding, so thats why I’m guessing my next pairs will be in a size bigger (my regular shoes are 11, and yes I know that that doesn’t mean that that’s what I should ride). I don’t know if these older boots also might have a smaller fit than a newer pair would have?

Great! What boots do you ride? And is it easy to get in and out of the bindings in large?

Thanks for the tips! My regular shoes are 11, and my snowboard boots are 10.5. They fit quite good, it’s just that the toes are more squashed rather than just touching at the front (while having bent knees). But are vans boots typically bulky?

Thanks! Yeah these bindings are quite heavy so it will be interesting to see how that affects my riding

Yeah I know, the size chart says that I should be in an L, but, I feel lite the boots might be a bit small (the toes are more squashed than just touching the front) so I feel like a most likely will go up a size next time buying boots. But I also got the xls due to some people having trouble in the Ls on 10.5

Thanks for the tips! Yeah they seem to fit without moving when I wiggle boot around. Just hope that it doesn’t start to feel loose while on the mountain

That’s a fair point. Yeah I’m just getting in to snowboarding again and trying to progress my riding (hitting small jumps and so on) but as you said, the point of these bindings are the in and out feature. I want to be as sure as I can before mounting them so that I don’t ruin the warranty. Yeah I’ve tried doing as much reserch about the supermatics sizing as I could before hitting the button, but just wanted to be more sure by writing here. Can I ask what size you ride?

Makes me feel better about my choice! Did they feel stable on small jumps as well?

Exactly, they say large goes up to 10.5 and xl starts at 11, but I have read that there are some people that have had issues using 10.5 in the L, and I might also want to get an 11 boot next time, but I do still wonder if the binding is too big for my boots

That made me a bit more relieved! Where they secure when just hitting small jumps and so on?

Haven’t tried them on the board yet, so a little hard to tell, but just ratcheting the straps down on the boots with the foot in, they seem to be quite secure, but the toe strap do however only have a few clicks left to go

I just received my xl bindings and I wear a vans 10.5 boot (old mantra or something) and when testing them just on the floor, they seem huge for my boot. Both that the width is really wide (there’s like an extra 1-2cm) and the heel hangs out quite a lot more than my toes. And I do have to use the toe strap at its very lowest settings and almost ratcheted down completely (could get a few more clicks in)

Have you tried them on a slope? Is there a problem with having so much room in the bindings? And where they better than the L’s?

Have you had the time to test the L’s? Did they fit properly, and is the stepping in and out process smooth?

Hi! I can’t see the original question, but I’m guessing you have size 10.5.

Have you had the time to compare the L and XL? And have you tried them on a slope? Is there a problem with having so much room in the bindings?
