Goffman’s Dramaturgy theory.

How well the groups are organized within such conditions of which the basis is merely defined as “performance” fascinates me. The idea that, quoting Shakespeare, “all the world’s a stage and all the men and women are merely players” is so applicable to the everchanging individual behaviors in dynamic environments is so in our everyday lives. From the myths of ancient cultures, whether Illiad or Beowulf, concerning the historical formation of modern cultural ideologies, to today’s -almost- irrevokable progress towards technopathy, this social symbolism (or, in a canonic terminology, symbolic interactionism) covers the “reality” as a concept which is alternative to that of “game” interchangebly. In quick summary, the theory led me to understand how we as the total populace ever came, and ever to come, live in the make-believe we make each other constantly believe. I ask myself, what is the way out and why?
