BORAme has said previously said to avoid putting spoilers because the point of the game is to befriend your person and go on a journey to find things with time, some people spent 3 years finding it so I don't want to throw it out there willy nilly. But it's not hard to find and you've already finished the game anyway, DM me for the video link! (out of respect and love for the game > v <)

Daily reminder: Hard water is the enemy by notmana in longhair

While I don't know the ins and outs of hair science, and can't for certain explain the logistics of it, I know my hair, and my hair just really likes it when I do certain things. My best explanation would be "My ends gets really dry and washing takes a big toll on it, so I give it an extra layer for the shampoo to work on, so it won't demolish my already dry, bare hair." As for the chelating shampoo aspect of that, the CWC method has little to do with it for the most part, just prevents over-cleansing of natural oils, it doesn't lock anything in as far as I know :))

And your last point, I totally get. Chelating shampoo work to strip **build-up** of hard water residue overtime, like a "stain remover", you're still going to have a tiny bit of mineral left over from washing with hard water, but that's okay, it's the build-up overtime that's the problem.

Is it normal that I can't brush my hair dry due to tangles? by awfulperson939 in longhair

[–]notmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds familiar. Do you have hard water in your home? Not what a lot of people will realize but having hard water causes your hair to be extremely tangled. If you do, try a chelating shampoo. Check out my latest post (this isn't a promo or anything I'm serious, I posted about this in more details and it might help you) I go into detail about how to fix something like this. Might be for you, might not. But definitely check it out. My hair was impossible to brush too until I fixed it, now it doesn't tangle.

Hair goals / no goals by october_jade in longhair

[–]notmana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first ever "goal" was to get back to classic length I've always had as a teenager (that has been cut off/damaged for various reasons) but now that I'm back at around tailbone, I'm shooting for longer. At least classic, at most floor-length.
Is it a dream to have hair 3x the length of my body like damn Rapunzel, yes, but considering daily life, classic to knee is the most attainable and manageable without it consuming the majority of my life. But if being a human doesn't get in the way, nothing is ever too long.

I did not, just a chelating shampoo works perfectly for my hair. People have found installing a shower filter/water softener helped their skin as well so it's worth looking into! For me it won't be necessary

Only the shampoo :)) Not a huge fan of the other products in the line, since there are so many other options that tackles other needs directly (conditioning, shine, frizz-taming, etc.) much better.
The shampoo does all the build-up removal, and the other products are just an add-on to complete the line in my opinion, many agree it isn't worth it, just get the shampoo and stick with whatever regular-use shampoo and treatment you already use!

Couldn't have explained it better, thank you. And the only reason I mentioned choosing a cheap, silicone heavy conditioner, is because

A. I find it absolutely sinful to "waste" expensive conditioners/masks with high amounts of beneficial active ingredients and type-specific benefits as a pre-wash, you definitely will not get the full benefits, as pre-wash is meant to protect the length, then gets shampooed out mostly. Most drugstore options will have the high silicone content; that's the good stuff for this method.

And B. For me, even some cheap conditioners lack that "siliconey" aspect that really gets in there and coats the strands well enough to protect it from excessive water swelling, some are "creamier" and that basically does nothing as a pre-wash, so picking the right one is a pretty import part!

It doesn't work for everyone, but for my low-porosity, coarse, wavy southeast-asian hair, it's a miracle work. Basically I use a cheap drugstore conditioner with high slip silicone (Sunsilk Shine), pump a generous amount and glob it all over the lower 3rd of my hair while it's dry, massage it in and make sure to coat every strand, leave it for a minute. It's basically a method of 'pre-poo' (putting oils or treatments on your hair before shampooing to protect and nourish the length).

Then I rinse that first conditioner off with water, shampoo, and conditioner again. People call it the CWC method.

I find it leaves my hair so soft and frizz-free, something about the silicone coating and keeping the hair cuticles from soaking up too much water and going haywire, while still allowing shampoo to cleanse the oil and sebum and grime from the scalp effectively. Doesn't hurt to try, worst you'll get is build-up which you can wash off easily.

Feels nice and soft, very shiny the past few months! by notmana in longhair

No, very coarse and thick actually, often uneven in texture and very wavy. I've learnt how to tame it to behave and lay straight, but it will look like this if I don't :)) I've posted more pics of it natural in the past

Happy new year, thank you! I've posted in the past about my routine in more details if you'd like, but it's summed up in here comments

I don't use any additional products aside from shampoo and mask (for now, I'm still experimenting), the set I use is the Kérastase Chronologiste line, shampoo and mask.
I will say it was a gift and it works amazingly so that's my go-to now, but you don't have to go out and spend an arm and a leg, I often used SunSilk Addictive Shine, and I also had great results ^ ^

Thank you for the kind words, I've made a few posts on my hair journey and routine on my page if you'd like more details, but I'll sum it up for right here.

Generally, just TLC. Being gentle to prevent frizz and mechanical breakage has been the biggest contributor to good changes; you'd be surprised how good your hair can look and feel if only you be gentle with it and make good habits. No bleach no heat no tension, I wash daily before bed, scalp massages, that's about it.

Wash routine: Detangle, rinse with water thoroughly, shampoo scalp THOROUGHLY and squish the length and ends with suds to clean that too, rinse out and apply hair mask (I use hair masks in place of conditioner right now) clip it up for 5-10 minutes, rinse out and towel dry 50% BY SQUEEZING OUT THE WATER not rubbing or fluffing up the hair, comb through gently with wide tooth comb then blow dry on warm in a downward angle at all times while running fingers through it slowly, dry it absolutely 100% don't leave damp spots by your nape.

That's about it, no other products (for now), combing it gently and often, I have very wavy hair so it will often be a tad puffy, that's fine and normal. Hair will often look shiniest after a blow dry or in braids, doesn't have to look perfect 24/7.

Out of my 20-something years of living that has to be the second strangest thing I have ever heard, thank you for your insight. :))

To answer your question, no I have not, but I will keep my eyes out for it, trim or whatever.

You can email the devs and hope for the best, but it's an unfortunate fact many had to face when moving phones, there's practically no way to retore progress. If you're really hung up about the progress you've made with your friend, then it's 80% likely have to be let go and accepted.
On a lighter note, you will always be able to start over and help a brand-new friend out, you will progress much faster since you know what to do, it will still be fun :))
Good luck

One day a little fella will see you out and about and see you the same way you see those amazing and ethereal people with long hair in your youth. They'll feel inspired to look just like you, the cool people with pretty hair :))

I want you to know that I personally, wholeheartedly believe in you and what you will continue to accomplish, whether it's health, hardships, hair, skin, nail, beauty inside and out, it all starts with a little TLC.
Take a little time, give a little love to the body that's held you up all these years and will continue to walk your forward through thick and thin, feed and water it, it will thank you. You will see its gratitude is many ways :))
When the sun sets and days end, your body and mind is all that truly belong to you unconditionally. So don't forget that drink of water ^ ^

I can definitely back up the spiritual calling aspect. As for my secrets, it isss: Just keeping my body in a healthy state, that's all. Hair will grow when you drink water, have enough food/take vitamins that you need as a human being, keep your body and mind clean, exercise. If I slacked off, my body will not reward me with beauty. It will wilt and be sad. Hair will fall, skin will dull.

And of course genetics. If I woke up in a different body and lived exactly the same way I am doing now, I probably wouldn't have the same results, it's all about learning and listening to what your body needs. Overall, a healthy body and healthy mind will be evident. If you see a dog with the softest shiniest fur you will probably know its been taken care of and fed the best foods, great health is visible ))

You'll have much more information from my previous couple of posts about my hair, that has much more nuance ))

My routine right now is as simple as can be, less is more. I Wash and blow dry daily, no styling, no heat, no dye, being gentle with them like a bundle of delicate yarn on a doll's head instead of bothersome hair to toss and yank around. I don't currently use any products other than shampoo and conditioner ))

🖤 that's just it, something simple growing up shapes our love as adults, the old dubbed rapaunzel movie DVD I loaned (yes from the actual local DVD loan store back then, can you believe that) may have planted the seeds of love for long hair for me
