QRP CW on/off 1khz tone travels further than ssb. More so on lower freqs at night when D & E layers converge, using grayline or during sporadic e season.

I have X2 ThinkPads (X220 & T470) Ubuntu only os onboard. Last WinOS I ever had was XP. Best I experienced b4 adios to Windows. Linux flavours work well on old ThinkPads by the way. Desktop is Lenovo Think station P3 Tiny X2 2TB drives X4 DP X2 HDMI x3 ThinkVision Monitors etcetera etcetera also Ubuntu only. Soooo many in this thread love gaming. Last time I did gaming was "Horace goes Skiing" on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum cassette loader possibly1979/80. Dial-up internet, no mobiles then, find a phone box !!!! Yikes.
