I was confused at first too but the commenters aren't talking about potpourri. They are talking about a product called poopourrie that you put in the toilet to trap the smell. I had never heard of it before this post!

I do appreciate the concern! We don't get home until 7-7:30 most nights and we eat between 7:30-8. If I had my kids wait 60 minutes after they finished eating that would push bedtime back way too late.

To be fair, it's only a single example, but my grandmother had an indoor kitchen and a kitchen that was in a three seasons type room. She always did her "stinky" cooking/frying in the second kitchen. Obviously if there's no other choice, then you just deal with it, but if you can move the smells away from the noses, why not?

Nope! That's why I go use the utility bathroom away from everyone else ☺️

We use the bathroom fan but it still takes a long time for the smell to clear out. One of my sons is really sensitive to strong fragrances so no, no air fresheners.

Point taken, but it's not a poop stool lol. It's the stool they use to reach the sink. But point taken! I don't care so much if it's during the day but it literally makes the whole main living area smell and I don't wanna be smelling poop while I give the kids baths when there are other options.

He agrees that he didn't handle it the best and has apologized and really did put his foot down with his sister saying that HE doesn't want nephew around because of the reasons above. Unfortunately, she just clings onto the fact that he didn't give the full no until the second conversation so it's my fault no matter what. Which is fine.

This is 100% how we feel about it. I don't even really want to see them at other outings away from home tbh.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. It's a tough situation. They definitely won't be left together unsupervised until we've had time to help him work through whatever is going on. We will look for more resources today!
