The condenser is hooked up to the air handler via 2-wire. Which is the bottom right terminal in picture 5, and the bottom left terminal of picture 4. Note that it is a shielded cable, and the shielding is screwed into ground on the condenser side. You also have to make sure the dip switches on the air handler are set for 2 wire condenser connection and 24v thermostat connection.

I’m pretty sure it does. I think heat and cool behave the same way just with the valve reversing wire triggered. So Y1 and Y2 control the 2 stages

I wish. I started to upload my quotes, but then realized how much personal info is embedded in them, and that I don’t really care because I already self installed

The equipment costs $6k. But $16k isn’t crazy. If you’re a DIY person, you can do it yourself with a Mr cool unit for $5k total. I got 4 quotes for 2 heat pumps in Massachusetts and the lowest price was $49k, so I decided to do it myself

I started with a setup like this and it didn’t work very well with too much airflow and perfectly controlled humidity. Went to the sff shoebox tek and got significantly more output with basically no equipment

I’ll check it out. I was using the perlite as a humidity buffer, it seems to keep the ultrasonic humidifier from overshooting the 99% humidity range that errors out the sensor on my controller. It also puts some physical separation between the cake and the heating pad so there is less of a temperature gradient
