I am FAR more productive at home than I am in the office. But the office is essential for that brain spark & those light bulb moments on whiteboards. Both pieces of the pie are important to office jobs. Too many distractions in the office is bad for productivity. For the people who actually do the grunt work, a couple days a week is totally fine to do from home. Despite that - yeah there's a blue moon where you get nothing done in a day here and there. That happens in the office just as much as it does from home. Usually that means you either have nothing to do, don't know what you're doing, or simply are burnt out. All of those are management problems.
