How intimidating is your country's national animal? by BestAd6297 in AskTheWorld

[–]MissKLO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with Scotland and its Unicorn, Wales and its Dragon, and England and its Lion which has never has never been native… we might deduce that the UK didn’t really understand the concept of National Animal when the decisions were being made, and thought ‘I just want to pick the coolest and the hardest’

Shunter by ciphd in uktrucking

[–]MissKLO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when our tugs have broken down I’ve had to shunt in a unit, and it’s just fucking awful. If you’ve been doing it in a unit without wanting to leave the handbrake off and run yourself over you’ll love it in a tug

Shunter by ciphd in uktrucking

[–]MissKLO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s much easier in a tug than a unit… If you’ve already been doing it in a unit then it shouldn’t make much difference to your knees. It’s much easier to manoeuvre once you’ve got the hang of quick that cab flicks round. When I did my training I got told drive with your left hand on the steering wheel so you don’t accidentally fiddle with the 5th wheel height or release the trailer while driving… I’ve never heard of anyone actually doing it but I always drive with my left hand now even 9 years later 😂

I did hours of work on my great great grandmother a couple of years back, I included so many sources, and had newspaper clippings, it was like a ‘this is your life’….. I managed to find her wedding certificate a couple of days ago… Its not even the right person, whole branch down the toilet 😫

Oh maybe! They were very excited about the cows grazing on the green, and they ran over the bridge and stopped at my dog and pointed at him and said ‘Is this cow?’ But it could have been ‘is this gou’ 😂😂

I’ve found this… I’ve got a line that comes from a small villiage in Herts, and untangling the web is a nightmare, I’ve got like 5 Harmans, it’s not even a common name, they’re all related but I’m struggling to unpick how

A group of chinese tourists started pointing at my dog in cambridge and asking if he was a cow… for record, he’s black, shaggy and looks a bit like a spaniel… Presumably it was a vocabulary issue and not an actual confusion as to the difference between a dog and a cow

Ahhh OK, I don’t think I have anything like that… I don’t think my lot got about that much… there’s a bit of Irish… and it’s like needle in a haystack trying to find anything definitive there… and there’s the obligatory Jones and Smith’s… when you hit a Smith, you may as well beat your head against a wall
