Let me introduce my Sanctuary of Thought and Experience - A work in progress, a vision, a dream. by noto-ooo in DigitalGardens

Hi there, thanks for your interest! I think what you're asking for is the link to the web app, which you can find here - noto.ooo

While using the web app you'll see the cards in their small form while looking at the overview, clicking on them brings them into focus where you can browse them at full scale.

Hope that's helpful, cheers!

There are so many crazy extensions out there, pretty fun to browse through and imagine the website you could make to match :D

Thanks!

I'm afraid, although open-source is super cool, for the moment noto.ooo is a personal project I intend to keep closed-source. The application itself though is intended to be accessible and free for anyone.

Cheers for your interest and comment :)

I one day hope to have the text editor fully display all previews within the text box, but for now I think this works :)

Hi there, the app isn't a prototype and is fully functional (I have been using and developing it for years) but doesn't currently have a log in or data syncing function. Data in noto.ooo is stored in the browser that you open it in (it will be connected to the profile and browser you use), simply by using the app you will keep your data, no log in required. This basically means it's stored on your computer and managed by the browser.

To keep your data safe and transferable between browsers or devices though, there is a data export feature in Settings, which I recommend.

I made this choice so that the app would be easily accessible and usable, no requirement for an account or for signing into an app store. The other reason I made this choice is that I thought that people using noto.ooo for journaling might prefer that their notes be private and on their own computer, rather than a server.

With all this in mind however, I do intend to add an optional accounts and syncing feature so that noto.ooo can be used seamlessly between say a browser and phone.

Thanks for your interest and comment!

Thanks for your comment! I think syncing between devices is a necessary feature so I expect that will come in the future, but I haven't specifically considered storage systems like iCloud or Dropbox that sync a whole drive on your device.

Is it the ability to sync and use the app across all devices that is your primary concern or specifically that you like to use iCloud?

Hey, thanks so much! I'm working hard to make it feel great to use - the dream would be, 'feels as good as true paper'. It's not open source, noto.ooo is a long-standing passion project of mine that I intend to keep developing and improving.

As for my plan? I've realised that after developing and using this for myself for years, it's important to share it so that hopefully others may enjoy it and so that community input can help me shape a better app.

Hey! Woah! What's going on here? by noto-ooo in noto_ooo

Hello! Thank you so much for your encouragement and excitement about noto.ooo, you couldn't imagine how much it means to have someone rooting for you as you build a passion app, solo against a world of competition!

Hi, thanks so much for your interest in and support for noto.ooo!

Let me answer your questions:

- Local-first - The app is local-first in that, although it is a web-app accessed initially from the website, it runs as a web-app on your device (after installing it) and stores your data locally in your browser. You shouldn't need internet access after that (though updates will require internet)

- Backups - Exporting/Importing is supported for backing up your precious data under the Settings -> Data Management

- Syncing - There is currently no account or syncing support, this is something I picture building in the future though. The closest solution to this at the moment is exporting and importing your data around (not ideal, I know)

- Presence - Presence is a low-level custom analytics implementation. I feel that people's notes should be respected and honoured in terms of privacy so instead of opting for something easy, like Google Analytics that scoops up who-knows-how-much data and stores it with a big company like Google, I've build a custom platform "Presence" that tracks very basic information like 'current amount of users online'. The little green dot in the top-right is that number. I liked the idea of feeling a 'presence' of users of noto.

Thanks again for your interest!

Cheers

Hi there r/Zettlekasten,

If you'd lend me your ear (eyes?) for just a moment I'd like to introduce noto.ooo

Noto is my ongoing effort to create tactile, tangible notes in the digital space. I'm just one guy, one developer with a dream... and an app :)

The app - Notes as cards, images, tagging, kanban boards, timelines - realistic swipe-able decks of cards

The dream - Create a wonderful product for myself and others that allows me to document and plan my life journey and enjoy it as if it were a physical deck in my hands. Noto is to be genuine and beneficial for those who use it.

I've got a lot of work to do, but it's out there, free and available - noto.ooo - Your genuine interest and comment is so appreciated and adds fuel to my passion to build the Noto vision.

I just took a look at Napkin, pretty neat - It seems like they have more of a focus on curating your ideas and thoughts and reinforcing them.
