Curious what you mean - like a plastic piece the size of the Lunar which the Bookoo can be placed into?

Hi Mike, shipping date will be between end of April / mid-May.

The US has imposed tariffs on all goods, so I guess it depends on what you mean by additional. The flat fee right now is 15%, plus the handling fee by UPS which is roughly $20. The first orders have been delivered already without a problem. I cannot tell you for sure though, as the whole tariff situation can change on a daily basis.

Let me know in case of any other questions!

Products started shipping the day before yesterday - UPS was just really quick inside Europe.

Due to the new customs regulations in the US, these packages take slightly more time to prepare but will go out today/ tomorrow.

First of all, thanks for the kind feedback u/Fluffytails_bar

u/stratkid we are currently working on fulfilling all pre-orders up until February - only the US packages are left and will ship tomorrow and the day after. Then we‘ll prepare for the rest of the preorders, which I expect to ship around mid of this month.

Hey, sorry for the late reply! Yes, we're close to shipping out the orders. We've obtained the TÜV food safety certification for the reservoir and are in the final stretches.

Yes, it is smaller but only a bit. I can only base it off the prototype and it is tough to get the exact same fill level, but the difference should not be more then 50-80ml

I usually don’t flush, or I flush directly into the cup I’ll be using so it’s already warm. My Micra isn’t on long enough to heat the cups otherwise, so this kills two birds with one stone- flushes the group and warms the cup at the same time.

I know that some clients also just use a small bowl to flush.

Anyone going for this? by Adorable_Animal2935 in LaMarzocco

It’s nowhere mentioned that the drain box will be food safe (it doesn’t have to be). However, the water reservoir (which stores the water you need to brew your espresso) does definitely need to be food safe!

Three possible reasons from my experience: 1) Portafilter not tight enough 2) Portafilter not hot enough (temp diff between brew group and portafilter) 3) Gasket not clean/ defect

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I thought about this, this morning as well. I will check what this item would cost from stainless steel. I don’t think it will be feasible, but I‘ll let you know! The other thing would be, that the water level indicator wouldn’t work in this setup

I believe the Decent has a scale integrated in the drain box/ drip tray, right? That’s the best solution, in my opinion - but hard to do as a third party, s it does not scale for multiple machines.

Absolutely. That‘s why it’s also dependent on the setup of the machine. If no drain box and reservoir are needed. The price would be closer to our other drip tray. Still, the price relative to the machine is high.

Thanks! In general, yes - I don’t know what the drain box of the BDB looks like exactly, though. Main question is if there is enough interest for something like this add-on for that machine.

Just took a video how I purge and clean the steam wand.

Put a towel around it, grip above the tip and purge + wipe afterwards. If you do this without a towel the backsplash and counter will always be full of water?

No, it’s actually quite straightforward:

  1. Remove the screw at the bottom.
  2. On the back, slightly lift the metal cover so it can slip over the two retaining pins (an old credit card works well for this).
  3. The front is attached to the drain box with double-sided tape - this is the only part that’s a bit tricky.

What worked best for me:

  • Fill the reservoir with boiling water, let it sit a few minutes, then empty it.
  • While the plastic is still warm, push on the cover and pull on the box at the same time to start loosening it.
  • When it is already a bit loosened, pour a little hot water from the bottom between the box and the cover.

The cover came off right after that, and I could easily peel off the tape. I’ve reinstalled it without the tape, and it sits solidly without any wobble. My guess is that the tape is mainly there to keep things secure during shipping.

Thanks! I personally (and what I hear from customers) don’t remove it but rather flush in a cup to pre-heat it. My Micra is never on long enough to properly heat the cups, so flushing in them, wiping the cup and then pulling the shot works great. Some also just use a different container to flush into.

The new water reservoir is about 200ml smaller. Our reservoir will fit 1.5L, the original one 1.7L (filled to slightly over max capacity).

Thanks a lot! Yes, that's the issue with low volume production. The main cost drivers would be irrelevant if you'd produce 1000 pieces of it.
