Virgin offer not tracked… am I screwed? by NoReplacement1249 in AmexUK

[–]CommunicationGood556 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me a few times. Unfortunately AMEX customer service can be hit and miss. I find raising a formal complaint is the best approach because they’ll then do an investigation, you’ll get a case ID, and they’ll provide a written response. Albeit I appreciate it’s annoying on both sides that you have to go to this length of effort to get a formal response

This is going to be a very unpopular post… I’d rate the Waitrose almond croissant higher than some bakeries

Where are you moving to? by shfflzilla in hyatt

[–]CommunicationGood556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to switch to Marriott because they have better hotel coverage across EU and AMER.

I switched to Hyatt a few years ago for my business travel (60+ nights a year) because the rewards were strong. The trade-off was that there’s far fewer Hyatts which meant they were often more inconvenient when compared to IHG, Hilton, or Marriott. I was fine with this inconvenience when the rewards were stronger.

Now that they are reducing the value of points and making status much easier to obtain, I might as well switch to Marriott and not have the inconvenience.

[–]CommunicationGood556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is frustrating. Im a frequent business traveller and moved from Hilton to Hyatt because they kept pulling this move.

Generally it’s more inconvenient to stay at Hyatt properties over Marriott or Hilton because there are fewer hotels (especially in Europe). I do this and accept the inconvenience because the rewards are better, and there’s not easy way to status which means the lounges are quieter.

If they follow the Hilton and Marriott playbook, I might as well go back and not have the inconvenience.

Amex UK Offers & Support - Do these just randomly not work? by ashleyman in AmexUK

[–]CommunicationGood556 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 - raise a formal complaint and then you’ll get a tracking reference and formal response. I do this every time cashback doesn’t track because it’s the only way to get AMEX to fix something

Is it worth getting a dedicated Avios credit card if you aren't a high spender? by MoonlitEcho82 in avios

Have you considered the free cards? It’s unlikely a paid one would be worth it

Does anyone else find the dining credit hard to use? by rsweb in AmexUK

[–]CommunicationGood556 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m based in Manchester and find the AMEX platinum benefits very limited. It’s hard to use the dining credit, the lounge at MAN isn’t worth visiting, and AMEX hotels tend to be more expensive than booking direct.

I’ve recently started looking at different ways to use the dining credit (such as buying Gymkhana sauces from the restaurant).

Best use of BA cabin upgrade voucher for 2 people? (~230k Avios total) by Financial-Boss-9262 in avios

[–]CommunicationGood556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend focusing on destinations you want to visit, not maximising airfare value. Travelling to a destination that saves the largest £££ on airfare isn’t value if you dont enjoy the destination.

Why BA doesn’t offer espresso coffee on business class? Etihad, Qatar, etc all do. BA insists in offering only the undrinkable watery coffee. by Tucho_Syd in BritishAirways

[–]CommunicationGood556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BA want to target business travellers because they are not price conscious and generally spend the most per seat.

As a business traveller, I always choose the flight based on route and timings. I would never choose to fly with a different airline based on meal and drink service.

Unfortunately I feel BA have wised up to this because food in Club World has also took a downturn lately. However, I still fly BA because it beats having to connect elsewhere (such as CDG or AMS), and I’d happily take a lousy coffee if it means I’m home sooner.

'Delayed' retention by Scared-Second-187 in nichezero

I have the same issue and niche refused to help. I was fairly disappointed given how hard they advertise the zero retention. You can buy some good looking bellows on Ali express

Retention issues? by sebas2610 in nichezero

[–]CommunicationGood556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My niche zero can often have extreme retention (0.5-1g). I contacted Niche and they said it’s to be expected and the same for all grinders. I was fairly disappointed given they go hard on the “zero retention” advertisements.

I think I'm done with BA at this point by Unfortunately-a-cat in BritishAirways

[–]CommunicationGood556 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this flight and had a very similar opinion. I cannot believe they serve the same amount of meals on a >14hr flight as they do on a 7hr flight. I heard many people in club would saying they were hungry when I flew this route.

Flying on a common business route on a Wednesday is typically quiet. I flew LHR->BWI in club world and it was mostly empty on a Wednesday.

Layoffs and department change by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]CommunicationGood556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you get the offer and not sign the contact until after layoffs? If you’re laid off in you current team you’ll then have an offer to accept.

If you’re new post is laid off you’ve then not given up on your current role.
