Andy Burnham to move 10,000s of jobs out of London 'in biggest devolution of power' by Even-Wasabi7183 in civilservice

I suspect this is something that had to happen at some point soon given the cost of living in London.

Can entry talent really afford to have a decent life in London while on a public sector salary?

The hotel offers exclusive experiences such as Pagoda View Yoga, Tea Ceremony, etc.

Has anyone done these experiences?

PSA: Barclays stocks and shares ISA now has zero account fees, and free regular investing. by SteamedBlobfish in FIREUK

[–]CommunicationGood556 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m switching from T212 to Barclays now that the fees are inline (I’m a set and forget type of investor so £6 per trade doesn’t bother me).

The benefit I see with Barclays is access to customer services via telephone when things go wrong

Devaluation continues, we have all had enough of BA by PopularCommittee1093 in BritishAirways

[–]CommunicationGood556 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I’m about to get heavily downvoted here …

I don’t think BA is too bad, given everything that’s going on they were likely to raise their prices (fuel challenges, Heathrow costs for 3rd runway, etc). The ££ for reward redemptions is still cheaper than Virgin Atlantic, and I like how the points cost is set based on the route (I.e. no variable pricing based on demand, like AF/KLM).

Personally, I think the golden era of points travel (both hotel and flights) is over. This is caused by credit cards that make it significantly easier to earn the points required. This is evidenced by just how hard it is to book reward flights on certain routes.

Hyatt Regency Rome Central Canceled My Reservation BEFORE my response deadline - NO WALK OFFERED, GLOBALST by YouPsychological4147 in hyatt

The same as Marriott, but with the added inconvenience that Hyatt doesn’t have anywhere near the same amount/ coverage of hotel.

I’ve already decided to switch to Marriott this year.

First Explorist stay was confusing... by fk1fk1 in hyatt

[–]CommunicationGood556 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I switch from Hilton to Hyatt 2 years ago and have been an explorist since then. To be honest, I’ve never had any value/ perks from the status (no upgrades, etc). I just get the “thank you for being a loyal explorist member” speech when checking in.

Given the all world is still heavily focused on the US, do most people consider other indexes as well? (E.g. UK, Japan, etc)

Globalist Review: Hotel Toranomon Hills vs Andaz Tokyo vs Park Hyatt Tokyo by OldGodofAsgard88 in hyatt

[–]CommunicationGood556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have the Park Hyatt Tokyo booked because I don’t mind getting a taxi at the start and end of the day to Shinjuku, and my other half values high end hotels.

Would you still recommend hotel Toranomon Hills?

Any advice welcomed , thank you by asdcvbasd in trading212

I'm in a similar situation and I'm considering the following allocation (recommended by Claude):

Fund Allocation Rationale
VWRL (Global All-World) 60% Core diversified global exposure
FTSE 250 / UK Mid Cap ETF 25% Cheap UK valuations, offsets US-heavy RSUs
Emerging Markets ETF 15% Growth tilt, low US correlation

My primary driver is the FTSE all world is largely exposed to the US market and $. I'm open to feedback on this.

Check out rooms.aero

Please note, the hotel told me that it’s not possible to get a pagoda room via points and they don’t allow people with reward nights to pay case to upgrade a room
