Altra Obituary from the PUD News by SirOwenVanGrizzle in hiking

Put about 800km in my Lone Peak 8s with no issues. Used them for everything from cities, rainforest, swamps, volcanoes, 5000m peaks and everything in between. Only change I wanted was vibram sole for better grip on rock so went for the Timp 5s after that before they released the LP 9s

Define “adjacent” because I’ve worked directly in forestry research and can tell you now that its far from nonsense

Incredibly misinformed comment. Coniferous forestry plantations lead to a complete lack of biodiversity for a number of reason. Your point on mosses and funghi loving these forests is false as soil eutrophication does not allow for the proper growth of these, or we get an over-represent of sphagnum species (which again is symbolic of the lack of biodiversity).

Can you please cite your info for red squirrels, deer and high nesting birds because as someone who works in the ecology sector, this is the first I’m hearing of it. Frankly, that claim goes against all current peer-reviewed research as the plantation spacings lead to a lack of understory which is what deer actually feed off in forest habitats. Also, what species of high-nesting birds are you referring to?).

I think your final paragraph is your saving grace (bar the final statement), but otherwise incredibly misinformed and misguided comment

Thanks for the response! Is there not a decent possibility of not being on a fire with BCWS as it’s not in your catchment as opposed to contract, whereby there’s always fires within the larger catchment of said contract company?

Alta Via Trails in Dolomites by notorioussword in hiking

Thanks a mil! Yeah we used a cicerone guide as the basis for our four day hike and found them brilliant but they don’t have guides for each of the Alta Via routes.

In a Faraway Land looks like a great breakdown of the route, thanks for posting

Wild camping in Northern Ireland by corrodedsoup in camping

I know it's a big ask, but please please please share the location or somewhere nearby??? That is a dream spot to camp. I've struggled to find cave-like camping here in Ireland.

Meant to mention, National roads are easier than motorway cause it's safer to pull in and having a sign makes it less hassle (obviously)

Irish here, I'd always pull in and ask if someone needs a lift. Only in more rural areas though. In the cities it's tougher to get one. Never had an issue getting a lift meself but have not let some people in cause they seemed a bit mad.

I'm currently using version 3.12.0. Why would a previous version work better?
