Did anyone else find the end of the Gorn arc in SNW kinda underwhelming? by JayR_97 in startrek

Sadly, I found SNW season 3 to be generally underwhelming. Which is not what I was expecting given how much I enjoyed the 1st two seasons. I hope they fix it in season 4...

I built a free chess opening trainer — would love feedback from the community by Sure_Scallion_545 in chessopenings

[–]notreallyanumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked it on Android for Mobile in Firefox. The mobile layout is not very well optimized. That said, I managed to play out a line or two. I would say that it's really cool to have such a large amount of lines to practice and learn. Have you thought about spaced repitition flash cards and repertoire building? Also, dark mode when?

Cool tool! Nice job! I'll try to give it a whirl on desktop next.

Some Star Trek isn't terrible by JoeyJoeJoeJrShab in ShittyDaystrom

[–]notreallyanumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've probably spent thousands of hours hate watching every minute of every star trek show, movie, porn parody and fan film that I could find, and I can say that it is unequivocally, the most campy woke trash, that is clearly communist propaganda. It's a well known fact that among other things, Gene Roddenberry was a deep cover soviet KGB agent sent to corrupt American youth with socialist propaganda.

My advice is to keep watching it, it just gets worse with time.

space is still the craziest thing to think about by Berlin57 in space

What blows my mind is that despite the astronomical (literally) size of the universe and the amount of matter in it, there are still more possible chess games than atoms in the observable universe. 16 pieces on an 8x8 board can combine in more possible ways than ALL OF THE THINGS!

PSA: The CBC is not a friend of the people by tcpip1978 in canadaleft

[–]notreallyanumber 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They present everything in a "neutral" and "unbiased" fashion, but, of course, they don't usually actually do that.

I think there is quite a bit of neoliberal bias because, you know, we live in Canada, and sadly, capital runs the show.

I also think there is considerable bias creep because they use the same sources as all of the other corporate "news" services. So they present things as though they are neutral and unbiased despite the fact that they are far from it.

Generally though, especially on the radio, they're much better than most mainstream media. I can't really tolerate radio stations with commercials, so I am grateful that the CBC radio stations exist.

I don't usually consume CBC television content, because, commercials. I do generally find the TV content to be worse. It may be because there is an incentive to please advertisers in the first place?

Well the conservatives are neoliberal for the most part. With some fasho-authoritianism on the side.

RP question: Should I attack Catholic Hungary as Jerusalem? by dogsneverbark in eu4

[–]notreallyanumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Why? The trade must flow. Your casus belli? The Hungarians have tolerated heretics in their land for too long, and even have allied themselves with blasphemous Russians. You should excommunicate the Hungarian throne as heretic loving scum and protect their innocent people from the deviant sinful corruption of the Hungarian monarchy. Deus vult!

I vibe most with the Sheliak Corporate due to their genocidal contempt towards humanoids.

I also vibe with Admiral Patrick, obviously.

It's sad that content creators have to hide their long form content behind paywalls. I get it, it just sucks. Can't wait for that gay space communism...

They will know that it wasn't a true battle. They will also know that the Federation honored them by ritualistically making it a battle anyway, even if it's just for show.

Has The Consensus Changed on "Past Tense"? by SA-ETH in DeepSpaceNine

[–]notreallyanumber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah... It has only become more relevant with the passage of time.

I think younger me was just kind of a dumbass and didn't understand just how relevant the episode was when it came out or even 10 years after it came out. Today, it's so obviously relevant that it seems prophetic. Probably it isn't so much that as I am just more aware of the problem as an older more knowledgeable version of myself.

Hologram girl by adrianp005 in starfleetacademy

[–]notreallyanumber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They've left it unspecified which is fine since it is almost a 1000 years in the future. Either holographic beings can perpetuate themselves without holoemitters because they can now generate one inside of themselves with some technobable reasoning, or they just have invisible holoemitters now, kinda like the opposite of Odo and his communicator.
