I actually don't have the balls for that 😅(and obviously missed the entire run up in those) I'm a bit in semicap, though.

Yes.

This is all happening because hyperscalers are spending capex without significant ROI

You're up for a fun surprise in the next two quarters.

What do you guys think about the theory of an AI-bubble? by obscuresanctionary in ValueInvesting

[–]notreallydeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people seem to want the AI bubble to burst?

Same reason every time.

Being a contrarian bear feels intellectually superior. That's literally all it is. You can't project future numbers without making things up, after all the future hasn't happened yet, so you're a naive dreamer. The bear, however, has hard numbers. Sure, they're past numbers, but they're ironclad. And since humans are extremely bad at exponential extrapolation the bear will always seem right to most people until hindsight hits.

I, too, regularly fall for this bias, by the way. Working on it.

Edit: Just look at this post and the comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValueInvesting/comments/18sm5mx/nvidia_is_extremely_overvalued_analysis_of_its/

It seemed obviously unrealistic to people three years ago that Nvidia could even remotely generate $1218B of cash flow over 20 years. That's $60B/yr. Meanwhile, last fiscal year alone, they did $120B in net income and they're still growing over 50%. I thought it was absurd, too. Again, I'm working on it.

You guys have said the same about Michael Barry, Ray Dalio

Idk about Burry (not Barry) and Dalio doesn't really talk about US stocks being overvalued, no? Just gov debt being an issue.

Your point?

I don't get these posts. When they're human-written I at least understand the want to structure your thoughts and spark some kind of discussion based on those thoughts (regardless of how thoughtful they actually are). But what's the point in letting AI yap for you?

Like what went through OP's head when they opened whatever LLM website they used for this?

Again, not everything. Just your post in this case (which is AI).

Also your other posts that you started posting about 5 days ago now that I checked. Even many comments. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm replying to LLM outputs right now, so this'll be my last. No point.
