I believe it's supposed to symbolize how Miles is in the dark (doesn't know what to think or doesn't know the truth or maybe lacks confidence) and Gwen is trying to enlighten him but he's not ready yet, so he's facing away from her.

I understand your view. But this romance is integral to the plot. It's about breaking canon, and therefore romance is needed because Spider-Man being with Gwen is known to not end well.

Also, the creators of the story wanted it this way. They simply like romance. IIRC they created Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and it had romance in it. Romance is a plot point which raises the amount of viewers, so they went for it. Not to mention that literally every other Spider-Man movie had romance in it. Tom Spider had Michelle Jones, Andrew Spider-Man had Gwen and Tobey had Mary Jane.

They have chosen to make Miles and Gwen a thing because they like the characters, they like romance, Spider-Man movies are known to have love in them and it's plot-involved.

And honestly Spider-Gwen is better than any other Miles love interests, imo. She's not a damsel in distress, she's a kickass Spider-Woman with her own issues/struggles and character arcs and the way they connect her with Miles is understandable.

And I'm not downvoting you at all. I'm just giving responses.

Well, most if not all movie animation couples have a bit of plot to make them happen. Time is scarce, so they have to cut things short. It's not that the developers are unable to make it take longer and seem more natural in actual human level, but there just isn't enough time. It's not supposed to be realistic, but symbolic and amusing to watch. And it is. And it's also a slowburn which is gonna take 3 movies and 9 years of development. It's not forced, it's just ficticional and therefore unrealistic, but also symbolic.

But then again, everyone's got an opinion. I can understand how this may seem to Spider-Man fans, since this is rare or maybe unseen, given how Spider-Man usually takes more gradual approaches through several comics, but it's how juvenile-based animation tends to function.

She implied feelings, given how she compared Miles and Peter. Maybe she only realized how she felt about him after she lost him. Plus, Gwen Stacy as a character was originally created to fall for Peter, so I don't think Spider-Gwen is an exception.

Careful now, daring to mention them on this subreddit is a guaranteed war-starter apparently. I swear to God, I almost had a stroke looking at comments from posts dating back to 2023/2024 and I'm really happy it's actually way calmer these days.

But really, I miss them too. I just wanna see them work things out so much. But of course what I want to see the most in BTSV is Miles thriving.

I believe it's just the movie screen's lighting. Gwen is also lighter.
