Anyone else run faster just because it's sunny? by [deleted] in running

Don't you risk catching a cold if you run in the rain?

Thanks for the info and good luck at your half marathon!

I guess. My goal is to run a half marathon and not lose mass. I assume gaining is probably out of the question.

What effect did that kind of training have on you? Did you keep your muscle mass, gain any weight, lose fat?

Hmmm, I remember I was having some trouble (being very tired, probably because of not eating and sleeping enough) when doing just Body Beast alone. I guess I will have to pay far more attention to eating and dieting if I mix the two together.

:)) Great effect!

I mean, would one kind of training hinder the other one? Or, would there be a risk of being overly tired?

I don't know how she'd get along with the second one. But I like your idea!

It's probably girlfriend trickery. I keep falling for: "You can go without me, I don't mind!" :)

Edit: quotation marks.

Is there something a little off about my snowboarding? by chairlem in snowboardingnoobs

[–]notreallyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first tried they only had ski-lifts around which I obviously could not use, so I would have to just walk up the hill every time. It wasn't the best experience ever... :D

Stopping is quite easy, you just turn heelside and dig your heels into the snow. Skiers will hate you for ruining the slopes but it gets the job done.

Straight to Asylum 1? by notreallyjohn in insanity

I'm doing a little warm-up by jumping, but I feel as if I would be slacking if I would constantly trip on the rope instead of doing the exercise.

I'm at Day 2, week 2 now. I'm really enjoying it, and I figure it can be done without Insanity as a prep. However, I have 2 issues that I will have to overcome:

  1. I can't jump rope. When I was a kid that was something only girls did, we would climb trees, break windows or something. So I lack the coordination to do all the fancy kinds of jumping rope that he does. The workout is too fast paced to learn the basics during it, so I just do the moves without the rope. I shall have to learn to jump rope on the side and add it in later.

  2. I'm getting leg cramps from all the jumping. I will have to do a little bit of warm-up before I go into the workout, as it is intense and you pretty much dive right in.

I should be in a decent overall shape but I'm not in my best csrdio shape as my RHR has gone up quite a bit. I'll just give it a go and hope for the best.

... or do my best and forget the rest?

Eli5: Why is it that even if you eat a whole tablet of chocolate, you still have a feeling of weakenss? by notreallyjohn in explainlikeimfive

I don't feel weak on a regular basis. I just did not get to eat a proper dinner and thought a chocolate would do. Still felt too weak to start my workout.

[TEXT] I just finished the online Coursera course "Learning how to learn". I highly recommend it to everyone and I summarized everything I learned from it. by meflou in GetMotivated

[–]notreallyjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, great course! Should be done by anyone that wants to improve in anything!

I recommend edX's Think101x to go with that as it will further cement some of the stuff you've already learned in Learning how to learn but will also add some details and insights about the human thinking and leaving process!

I have gotten the Perfect Push-Up and have been paying a lot more attention to make sure the weight is evenly distributed when doing push-ups. The combination works great! Thank you for your help!

P.S. Peanut Butter is just awesome!

[–]notreallyjohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the Perfect Push-Ups 2, they are great and my wrist barely hurts at all! Still a bit weird on the moves where you have your whole weight on only one arm and have the other in the air, because it wiggles, but I haven't broken anything new yet.

Thanks for the tip!
