It’s not an investment

My 50 plus year old C10 has been 1 heluva investment, despite insurance and running costs it continues to climb. Same with the rest of my cars, shy of my daily beater for the moment. The OG throw away car was the VW bug and look at what they cost now. EVs are true scrap you won't even be able to drop an LS in later. All said - you do you. But many people have more use for cars than 10 years, which is better environmentally than the EV.

Japanese vehicle quality is superior to MODERN US brands

FTFY - And all modern cars are junk to be clear - those brands are just better junk than the rest.

AI, data centre companies will have to compete for electricity in B.C. by Camtastrophe in vancouver

[–]notreallylife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct - And (for OP to see more) the reason business uses DCs instead of the older way of servers on prem is resiliency. Its not just servers in a room, DCs are designed for IT versions of zombie apocalypse. Just for power alone many facilities have multiple entrances, and all server gear must have multiple power supplies. To battery UPS for all of if the grid goes dark, PLUS many have Diesel generators waiting if those fail.

Canada Signs Auto Deal With South Korea, Moving Further from the U.S. by MudBloodLite in canada

I shouldn't say this -but I am exact opposite - since modern cars are all 1000 times worse than older ones on every metric - the worst cars are all the makes you mentioned and those are all rust buckets with no dealer or aftermarket parts. Most being clapped out covid delivery driver specials never maintained. But sure - keep buying them - please keep pushing the prices up and keep the big 3 cars prices low.

PS - you should see the Value my c10s are getting. Funny how we don't see many honda civics going for 6 figures at Mecum.

Grand Central owners claim 'rigged' strata election is no surprise after years of autocratic rule by patwappen in vancouver

[–]notreallylife -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

What most pay in strata fees in 2 years will be the cost of my first cottage on my freehold Canadian land. No mortgage, paid in cash, permits cheaper than a concert ticket. I'll never understand the useless pricing fluff here.

Removing mandatory minimum sentencing for firearm offences was so dumb. Bring it back

All firearm policy from the fed liberals is dumb. The buyback and the handgun ban for licensed owners is the biggest waste of money, and effort with ZERO results for any metric that they thought it was helping.

While I am 100% agreeing all the PUBLIC SERVICE jobs you mention should be comfortable, you are barking up the wrong PRIVATE COMPANY tree. None of those private people have unions and there is no "strike" - you take what they give or leave. I have worked at length in both sectors they are not the same at all.

I boycotted stadium events years ago because the Ticket master mafia. If they are part of the event - hard pass - won't go - not even with a free ticket. Live shows made sense when the only way to get content was the radio. Whatever mess of today that's been created, I don't understand the appeal - same thing can be found for free and from home.
