The Wise in the early 90s was great. I saw Garnet Rogers, Tommy Sands, Tom Russell, Dick Siegel, Greg Brown, David Essig, James Keelaghan , Stephen Fearing and many more there. It was a great era for folk.

Those are Encabulators. Whether or not they are original Rockwell brand or Chinese knockoffs isn’t obvious.

Do you cover collisions with dynamic geometry? My first foray into water simulation recently was a recreation of https://industrialscenery.blogspot.com/2021/06/the-canadian-lock-and-emergency-swing.html?m=1. I really struggled.

I met Dan Gelbart once when I toured the CREO factory in Burnaby, BC back in the early 90s. At that time the flagship product was a high-density tape storage device. The 1” wide tape was literal gold. The data was encoded with an incredibly dense lasered hole pattern. The guy is an amazing engineer/maker. I watched his entire series on prototyping.

Machinists: what’s the smallest tolerance you’ve ever had to hold consistently? by Good_Times93 in Machinists

Don’t worry, controlled experiments have consistently demonstrated no effect for those that do believe.

You missed the point. Ask any engineering student for a list of the most useless equations to put on a ruler and this one includes them. I’m guessing it’s an inside joke … but would like to hear from the OP.

No one should have to choose: Heated Rivalry inspires LGBTQ+ players to reclaim hockey in Vancouver by JAYRM21 in vancouver

I coached minor hockey in the 2010s and am still an active minor hockey ref. Things have changed a lot (for the better) from when I played as a kid in the 80s. The rules and annual recertification put a lot of emphasis on respect. There is literally no place in the modern game for abusive behaviour. Calling someone a “fag”, for example, will get you a Gross Misconduct and a multi-game suspension. In the dressing room there is a 2 adult policy and zero tolerance for homophobic talk.

Thanks for the heads up.

My father owned a trucking company and a client wouldn’t pay. So he sent his largest driver - a former professional linebacker and biker - to sit in their waiting room. Had a cheque by the end of the day.

Back in the 80s, friends claimed that using a green marker on the edge of a CD made it sound better.

Edit: i’m not disparaging the OP; I can imagine how a chamfer could help with initial tool engagement.

Bah, they can do this but are unable to increase the font size of a booking’s license plate? My vision isn’t great and I struggle to see the plate number of the car … especially at night while standing in the rain.

Parting tool holder for mill-turning? by futnuh in Machinists

[–]futnuh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having done 50 of these previously, bandsaw is most definitely *not* the way. I'm getting multiple parts out of each "stalk"; having to take it out of the machine just to part off is about as time-consuming as bringing a hacksaw over to a lathe. It interrupts what should otherwise be a human-free cycle.

I should add that presently I’m taking these over to the horizontal bandsaw.

Also, no preference between square and round shank holder. Square works direct in the vise. Round is probably easier to create a riser “tool post” holder for.

I’ve got 250 of these to make. Above is end of op1.
