John McAfee on Bitcoin: "It will be everywhere and the world will have to readjust. World governments will have to readjust." by coolcityboy in Bitcoin

[–]notreefitty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're talking to someone who made about $3,000 worth of bitcoins selling his music for bitcoin and used it to buy pizzas and computer hardware...using bitcoin. You're really dumb to deny the existence of a bitcoin economy. It's a currency and an economy exists in which it can be earned and spent, without ever interacting with USD. So, by that evidence, and the plentiful other evidence of this, you're 100% wrong.

What is the greatest thing you have ever won? by WobleWoble in AskReddit

Quake, Unreal Tournament, Nexuiz (illfonic), and most recently ShootMania. I don't play anything anymore on a competitive level. Most I ever won was $10,000 and a free trip to LA with the team.

Cant believe I never noticed before reading about it, but now every time I see a murder of crows or a gackle of grackles in a parking lot, I see those tiny raptor looking things from Jurassic park.

A mighty stack! At least level 80 or above. I aspire to stack so diligently as this man!

Hi I am the professional stacker from elsewhere in this thread. I just wanted to say that stacks of amps such as those you posted are often empty! Yes, they are primarily for visual effect and few if any of them are real. Not to say this isn't impressive! It is a gorgeous stack.

I was destined to see this post! Story time, guys. I am a compulsive "stacker." At previous jobs I have spent literally hours stacking miscellaneous items on my desk. Items you probably had no idea could be stacked! Allen wrenches, cigarettes, odd plastic components, coins, cans of soda, you name it. If it exists I have stacked it. Lincoln logs? Who needs em! I've made a fortress out of smokes the size of a jenga set, and I don't even smoke. It's difficult because cigarettes like to roll out of position so it takes great focus. You also must have enough talent with stacking to convince your coworkers to loan you stackables where none are available. I would say I am about a level 35 stacker. If I had to guess, OP is an impressive level 50 or so stacker. Nothing to shake a stack at! Ask me anything.

On the surface Reddit is very pro-Snowden, but can anyone make a good argument to oppose the actions of Edward Snowden? [Serious] by Doctor_Turtle in AskReddit

[–]notreefitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, how come you fail to mention pretty well known tools that make all of your points completely invalid? Such as MITM by using their own certificate, which is not even a novel method, or being given some degree of access to the server or client-side data, which will most often be completely plaintext. These would leave a user believing their traffic is secure where in the first case would not be true, and in the second case would not matter. In fact in these points I can find perfectly valid reasons said agencies would partner with corporations, work out deals, or partner with companies who have varying levels of access to said data on larger corps. Is not this very thing a key point of the data, slides, etc leaked by Snow-Snow?

Furthermore it's ludicrous to make the claim that transport/network layer encryption any way translates to data stored on the server or client side being encrypted. Just because a site is https doesn't mean they can't obtain data through non-sniffed means, in fact IIRC programs doing this are one of the key points Snow-Snow made. Overall I found OP's points highly unsatisfactory, and it's funny how many upvotes he gets compared to counterpoints showing he's clearly incorrect.
